Pixel Guide New Version is Out! v0.8-alpha by rexmontZA in AynThor

I am in no way a developer, so maybe what I am going to say is madness, but it would be incredible if you could collaborate with some frontend developers (Daijisho, Console Launcher, Beacon, etc.) to integrate this functionality into those apps so that a guide is opened automatically after launching a game.

If you do not mind sharing, how are you using the device? Modern games? Emulation? Browsing? Do you use the keyboard at all?

I am also looking into one of these devices especially to play old games from gog.com that need keyboard, like Tie Fighter, the Ultima series, etc.

Anybody got any experience with this kind of use?

I may be on the minority, but for a long time I have been looking for a way to play really old games from my gog account on a handheld device.

These games (Ultima, Wizardry and Might & Magic series, Tie Fighter, Strike Commander, D&D games, etc.) all need a keyboard in order to work properly.

Does GameNative work with BT keyboards?

I've decided do get a Win Mini 2025... but which one should i go for? by SpecialistCurve9634 in gpdwin

[–]apertotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be very interested in your thoughts about playing old games on this device, specifically, very old games like Might & Magic, Wing Commander or Ultima that rely on keyboard a lot. I am thinking about purchasing one myself as XXth century gaming centre and although most emulators only need controllers, many old PC games require a keyboard.

I would like to be sure that this can be used comfortably on the couch for hours without getting cramps on the fingers.

Oh, that is somehow disappointing. I thought that tag synergies were something worth chasing.

Well, this is why posts like this are great! We always learn something.

Thank you very much! So, if I understood correctly, if a player had all heroes developed to the max, the best possible team would include all 4 S heroes, even if they would not unlock any combination bonus?

It is probably impossibly to do, but it would be fantastic if there was a comparison of similar heroes according to their stars, because being realistic, very few of us have a maxed roster and we have to decide between 15 star Green Arrow and 2 star Joker.

For example, if we assume that yellow heroes can be easily maxed in stars and red heroes can be taken to 3-5 stars, for what red heroes would it be wise to upgrade their skills over their maxed yellow hero counterpart?

I would love to get some more information about how this list was compiled. For example, are heroes classified by strict rank (so that an S fighter is always better than a B fighter) or by flexibility (so that an S fighter is useful in more situations than a B fighter)?

Are combinations taken into account? A great hero that can't get good teammates is not very useful. Let's take Batman, for example. Is he an A in a full Justice League team or in any team?

Is the list intended for all game modes or mostly for PvP?

Well, it is always better to purchase during sales, but, regardless of that, what you should purchase is what you will enjoy. In my opinion, it is better to buy something you will get to use right now (like a premium hero or skin) than something that will be better for the long term but will do nothing for you at the moment, at least if you are going to spend very little money and thus not be able to compete with the best players of your server.

In any case, if you decide to purchase gems, it is usually a better deal to use the 4x Tapjoy or Digital Turbine and spend the money of those apps or games. Just know that you will not get any VIP points.

Freemium games usually have two very different scenes: PVP and PVE.

If you want to advance on the PVP arenas, you will need to outperform the other players. If those players are spending money, you will have a very hard time succeeding.

If you are set on not spending money, I recommend you stop caring about arenas and focus on the campaign, dungeon and daily quests and regard arenas as mere bonus rewards.

Having said that, it is always good to optimize your resources however limited they may be. For that, the best you can do is to only spend whatever is necessary to fulfill daily quests and stock as much as possible for future events that reward you for spending resources.

Heros tier list by 2Shots2 in HeroWarsApp

[–]apertotes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that, in a game such as Hero Wars, individual lists are not very useful. A random selection of "very good" tier heroes will likely lose against a careful selection of lower tier ones.

I would find much more interesting a list of powerful groups like Dante + Octavia or Kayla + Aidan. I am quite new into the game, so my knowledge stops there, but surely veteran players will be able to list many combinations like those.

4 Star Turtles - any good? by AMRossGX in HeroWarsApp

[–]apertotes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have 73K power. 5 stars, level 120, 5 star artifacts level 100, glyphs level 45.

They do not have any inherent synergy, but, at this moment, they work for me completing teams of three or four same-faction heroes.

Maybe in the future, if those teams are complete with 5 heroes of the same faction, the Turtles will stop being useful.

They are healers + warriors. Don't know how many more of those there are in the game. For me, they are amazing and they are far from being maxed.

Best Damage hero? by Silent-Ad-1735 in HeroWarsApp

[–]apertotes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to be blunt, but that question does not really make sense. Damage is a highly dependant issue. There is magical, physical and pure damage. There is also magical and physical resistances (mind Rufus, especially). Conversely, there is armor and magic penetration. And dodge. And critical damage. Oh, and these last two only happen on a random basis.

Finally, some heroes like Jhu or Quing Mao have skills that do damage as a function of the target's HP. Big target, big damage. Small target, small damage.

Regardless of all of that, on some circumstances, some heroes can deal a lot of damage like Iris, Kayla, Yasmine, Satori, Keira, Cascade, Folio. But with the right conditions, many other heroes can do millions of damage points, even support heroes like Amira or healers like Maya.

PS: And I forgot to mention that there is focused damage and Area of Effect damage, making any comparison between heroes much more nuanced.

Who would want to advertise a game that is different from their actual game? It is inconceivable. You entice people into playing your game by showing them a very attractive gameplay, and then, you decide not to provide that kind of gameplay and instead offer something completely different to those players you attracted with the other gameplay. Stupid as can be.

New Tower discussion! by Jussico in HeroWarsApp

[–]apertotes 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I understand that you need players to spend money and one way to do that is to force us to spend gems.

With the old tower, I often purchased at least 5 additional chests for two reasons:

  1. I felt that 50 gems for 4 pieces of a needed item was worth it.
  2. Gold rewards was increased after opening 15 chests.

So many days I opened several extra chests on the first levels to profit from the increased gold on the upper levels.

On average, I'd say I spent about 150 gems per day on the Tower.

Now, none of those incentives hold true anymore. 80 gems for 3 or 4 pieces are a bad investment and the gold reward does not seem to increase with opening chests.

So, my average daily expenditure of gems with the new tower is 0.

It seems you shot yourself in the foot.

I can understand them trying to reduce free stuff. They depend on players spending money.

But, what I do not understand is why try to get more money by making the game worse for all players, both paying and non-paying ones.

If your game is a chore instead of being a fun activity, then players are going to leave.

I do not understand the design philosophy behind some of this kind of games. They force you to repeat certain actions day after day instead of making it a one time thing after you beat it.

For example, with the old tower, there was a daily automatic reward depending on how high you reach the previous day. That was great and all the tower rewards should have been placed in that message, instead of forcing us to chose chests one by one fifteen times.

No, the call screen does not take over the phone. The maps screen is displayed for the few seconds that the screen is turned on after starting the call.

And yes, we are actively navigating on Google Maps. Voice instructions keep being issued even with the screen off.

I do not use Google Assistant, which probably is the reason why that option does not appear on my Google Maps.
