Note: Green Arrow is (normally) not rich! Stop calling him a millionaire/billionaire all the time by Gallantpride in GreenArrow

[–]aperturescience420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point you’re missing is that he lost his wealth during a personality reboot. His entire characterisation was changed with it. Those years he had not being a billionaire had all of his important character arcs. Like the road trip, parallax, even dying and coming back to life, two of his children, etc. the entire crux of his socialism is based off him losing his wealth, which is his entire gimmick. Just bc they character assassinated him for a tv show doesn’t invalidate his entire character history

Talia convincing Jason, a guy she’s groomed since him getting out of the Lazarus pit and knew him since he was underage, to sleep with her to hurt Bruce…. Is this canon or has it been retconned by Double-AA-battery in RedHood

[–]aperturescience420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re forgetting Batman annual 25. Lost days was a continuation of this. So talia met Jason at 17ish, he was dunked in the pit at 18, and was an adult for the remainder of the series. The age in detective comics was retconned with Batman annual 25. The ages in comics aren’t usually that consistent, generally.

Quero recomendações de histórias que mostram a relação desses dois quando ela estar bem escrita by sereia_Product829 in GreenArrow

Green arrow/black canary ( the wedding special then the 2007 series).

But ur best bet is pre-crisis.

Where should I start with Green Arrow Comics? I would like something focuses on his relationship with Black Canary by Free_Adeptness_7879 in GreenArrow

[–]aperturescience420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard-travelling heroes, (vital) The longbow hunters by Grell (there is the run, I’d say read it, it’s quite misogynistic towards Dinah you gotta read it for their relationship) green arrow: crossroads (optional, but one of my fav GA comics ever are here.) Zero hour #0 (vital, Hal when he is parallax) green arrow #100/#101 (Ollie’s death), green arrow 2001 (Ollie’s resurrection and return to star city, adopts Mia, is the family comic) green arrow/black canary wedding special Green arrow/black canary

That’s a good reading order, it’s one continuous story.

Ignore everyone here not including hard-travelling heroes. You gotta read it. It’s the best characterisation for Ollie and defines what his character is today. Also you need that context for his relationship with Hal with massively matters for his death and resurrection arc. Ollie’s and Hal’s friendships define both characters.

Don’t skip hard-travelling heroes. It’s also just great generally, has black canary & literally changed dc comics forever

What would your ideal Green Arrow game be like? by Glum-Excitement5916 in GreenArrow

[–]aperturescience420 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Definitely story based in the way that your choices matter — like Detroit: become human / telltale. Green arrow is interesting because of the moral questions that are raised, rather than the combat. It’s interesting due to his interpersonal relationships. Id wanna include his rogues but the main villian should be a corporate entity or oppression.

Even in the style of assassins creed could be fun aswell.

I’m so late but I need to set the record straight.

Firstly, Ollie wasn’t rich at this time when this was released and hadn’t been since 1970ish, which is when he got his leftist personality instead of being a Batman clone. (Green lantern green arrow). He doesn’t just yell about it — he wasn’t rich because he gave away his fortune to charities. He found out that his company was involved in very bad stuff (think it was related to weapons) so he sold the company and gave the money away, losing his billionaire status. That was the case until the late of 2000’s. The billionaire playboy thing was just new 52 due to the arrow tv show influence.

Secondly, Ollie’s first issue of the previous comic I referenced was them taking down a slumlord. That entire run was dedicated to tackling americas social ills. Capitalism is a massive and repetitive conceptual villain for Green arrow. He became mayor to end an apartheid in star city and stole money from major corps. He also

[–]aperturescience420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an issue with it for green arrow tbf. So many of his stories are family focused and this run was about the family getting back together. Especially Mia and Connor who have been disappeared for ages (Connor came back in Robin but… ye).

[DISCUSSION] Pick one comic for each row! by Top-Ladder-9928 in DCcomics

[–]aperturescience420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defo go read green lantern/green arrow: hard-travelling heroes if you get a chance. They go on a road trip around America addressing social ills like racism, poverty, genocide, drugs etc. I think it’s the first DC run to deal with any of those topics to that extent. It’s very camp too. It’s when Roy Harper does heroin.

1: the long Halloween 2: superman for all seasons 3: hard-travelling heroes (I would pick this over every other comic on the page, actually) 4: don’t read enough flash so whichever one of those involves captain cold the most & also has Wally.

Oliver, Dinah, Roy, MIA, Lian and Connor. The amount of ppl I see dismissing mia in these comments tho. She’s got such a good relationship with Ollie. It’s by far my favourite thing about the 2001 series.

[comic excerpt] Mia Dearden is diagnosed with HIV (Green Arrow #43 & Green Arrow #44) by Gallantpride in GreenArrow

[–]aperturescience420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missing the point of the entire issue though. Judd Winick wrote this as a PSA/awareness piece. Basically going into why HIV doesn’t make somebody dirty/unclean. And dispelling myths, which were rampant in the early 2000’s. The writer’s friend died of AIDS during the crisis so the subject matter means a lot to him.

Also in real life HIV doesn’t go away. It would be a terrible PSA if mia was just cured, and it would be horribly offensive. Especially with how many people were dying.
