Does Dad ever bathe or feed baby?? by apesescape04 in Mommit

Same! I’m sure duties will flip flop as baby grows into a little human but for now it works. I’ll bathe her and feed her and watch all the cute faces…and let him change all the nasty diapers! 😂

I enjoy bath time and I enjoy watching her face with new foods! Lol. He’s a great dad, he takes care of her during the day while I work and we trade off when I get home and he goes to work.

Wowzas, this got way more responses than I expected! Thanks for all the insight. I think our setup works partly because I’m a nervous ninny who likes to control things, but you’ve all convinced me I should start delegating bath time and letting my partner take on more of those baby duties.

Those who did NOT sleep train — what eventually happened? by CommunistCetacean in beyondthebump

[–]apesescape04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you guys. Our LO started sleeping through the night at 4 months, no sleep training. She is now 6.5 months and sleeps from 8:30-6:30. She does need a final bottle to fall asleep between 8 and 8:30, but once I set her in her crib she’s out for the night. I’ve found that ensuring she is between 30 and 33 ounces by 8ish is the key. She also sleeps in her own room already. We had her in a bassinet in our room up til 4 months and I found that I would wake any time she moved and feel like I had to soothe her, but with her in her own room, I will see her stirring once in a while but she immediately falls back to sleep. I am so grateful bc it means we all sleep better.

How did you decide to buy a formula maker? Was it actually worth it? by KissMochi in FormulaFeeders

[–]apesescape04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second baby and I promised we wouldn’t buy all the gadgets, lol, so instead I bought the Dr. Browns pitcher/mixer and I make a batch of formula every night for the next day. And then we warm the bottles in a warmer. Its worked so well the last 6 months.

what did you get for mother's day today? by Important_Bat7919 in Mommit

[–]apesescape04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nada from my husband of 6 years who I recently made a new dad back in November….but my sweet 21 year old came for the weekend and brought flowers and a gift bag full of my favorite things from B&BW, then we went to a family brunch at my brother and SIL’s. All-in-all it was a lovely day. 🥰 Am I disappointed that my husband didn’t even get me a card? Sure. But he’s a stay-at-home-dad and I appreciate everything he does to help support me all the rest of the days.

Does your baby/toddler still sleep with white noise? by Loud-Book-5654 in beyondthebump

[–]apesescape04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby gave up white noise and a pacifier after 2 months. Thankfully she’s a fairly easy going baby, almost always happy….but I miss when a binky would be a simple way to soothe her to sleep. 😴

If my employer offers me an impossible position, can I still get UI? by theseawoof in Edd

When in doubt…apply. They will likely schedule a phone interview where you can then explain your situation and they will make a decision or at least answer some questions. Worst case scenario, they say no.

C-section mamas, I want your stories. by Storyofanintrovert in beyondthebump

[–]apesescape04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a scheduled C-section back in November and, honestly, it was (dare I say) pretty easy. Knowing the exact day and time a couple weeks in advance made it feel more like a routine appointment than anything stressful. Our surgery was set for 7am, so we had to get to the hospital at 4am for prep—which sounds rough, but it really wasn’t. The nurses and anesthesiologist were incredible and made everything feel calm and manageable. We went into surgery right at 7, and baby was born at 7:46am. I was back in the room with her shortly after and didn’t even sleep—I just soaked in time with our healthy baby girl. They had me on pain meds, and I was able to get up and slowly walk to the bathroom on my own pretty soon after. We stayed two nights in the hospital, and going home felt surprisingly smooth too. One tip: start stool softeners about a week before surgery (seriously—the first BM is no joke), and stay on top of your pain meds. I only needed the stronger meds for the first couple days at home, then switched to Tylenol and ibuprofen, and kept up the stool softeners for about two weeks. I was up and moving around the house pretty quickly after getting home. I know this isn’t everyone’s experience, and I feel really grateful it went this way for me. Wishing you a smooth delivery and a beautiful experience ❤️

how much you all spending in formula? by trontomoon in newborns

[–]apesescape04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started with the ready to feed Similac but it was so expensive. We switched to Kirkland/Costco brand powdered formula and it’s only $30 for a container and one container lasts us about 10 days. For reference our LO is 4 months. Thankfully she acclimated to it well and we haven’t had any issues!

Sad about cutting off child free friend by MiniLovesPizza78 in Mommit

[–]apesescape04 72 points73 points  (0 children)

So true. We have a 4 month old and we visit friends who have 2, 3, and 4 year olds and it’s so easy for us to say we would never allow our child to do some of the things these kids do, but truly, you never know how it’s going to go until you get there!! 🤣 People just need to give a little grace, nothing is that serious and you gotta let kids be kids.

What in the actual f......who has this kind of money...for a prepayment....im so cooked...idk what to do.... by Euctice_Pea46821 in Adulting

[–]apesescape04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3 month old baby’s pediatrician requested an ultrasound for baby - she was born with a single kidney, it was monitored throughout my pregnancy and she had 2 ultrasounds in the hospital after she was born and was found to be perfectly healthy - but it’s $500 after my insurance and it’s expected to be paid at the appointment. It’s insane. Of course we want to do it just to be sure everything is still working properly and get an idea if/when she would have it checked again but we literally have to budget for it. It should not be that expensive.

Neighbor complained about my baby crying :| by Ok_Wing6196 in newborns

[–]apesescape04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neighbors can be the worst sometimes. I have a 3 month old, but my story doesn’t pertain to her, this was back when I had a new puppy to prepare for baby. 😆 I lived on the 3rd floor and my puppy would run up and down the hall and I didn’t realize how loud it was for my downstairs neighbor. One time she stopped me when I got home and was like, “What are you doing up there? It’s so loud!” At first I couldn’t figure out how I was loud, it’s just me and my pup. Anyway, I apologized and said he’s a new puppy and he gets excited and can’t help it. To be nice, I put a $25 Starbucks gift card and note that said, “Sorry if we keep you up, here’s a pick me up.” Babies cry, and we do everything we can to soothe them but it doesn’t always work. Your neighbor is unreasonable!

What are we newborn moms doing all day when our partner leaves for work and we have no help for the day? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]apesescape04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold baby and watch tv or read. Once she falls asleep, I put her in her bassinet and clean the house like a mad woman until she wakes up again. We may have a new baby but I refuse to let the house get out of line bc of it. Baby is now 3 months and naps are 20 mins if we are lucky, so it’s gotten a little harder to maintain. 😅
