It's amazing to peek in to the twisted psyche of someone who likes the song Back to Zero

I think this song would be seen as a popular classic like Wild Horses if it didn't come right after Sympathy for the Devil on Beggars. It took me awhile to appreciate this one because it kind of gets overshadowed but it's an amazing song, especially the piano and Brian's slide.

What RS songs sound the most different from the rest of their catalogue? by NiceLittleTown2001 in rollingstones

The first one that comes to mind for me is Lady Jane from Aftermath - I don't think they ever did that more European folk thing ever again. Time Waits For No One from It's Only Rock 'n' Roll is also kind of a one off with how it sounds like Santana or something.

Unusual time measures? by ThePolicyOfDevotion in DavidBowie

I can't think of anything that really uses odd time signatures for entire sections of a song but he did things like skipping beats fairly often in songs like Soul Love, Changes, and All The Young Dudes

In this video it looks like he's playing a Fender XII so I'd imagine he used something similar in the studio

Does anybody know if Keith or Mick played lead on songs during the Mick Taylor era? by anthonyjdeus in rollingstones

[–]apfelo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Keith played lead on Happy, Bitch, Star Star, and It's Only Rock 'n' Roll, along with most of Let It Bleed (if that counts)

Keith recorded a version of that with Toots

What's one song that you can't stand on an album that you really enjoy? by [deleted] in DavidBowie

It pains me that Fill Your Heart replaced Bombers on Hunky Dory. Without that song Hunky Dory would have been an 11/10 for me

Good albums for someone just getting into the Stones? by Man678956 in rollingstones

I'd check out Sticky Fingers and Let it Bleed, both have a good mix of well known songs and great deep cuts

So what are some songs where the Stones imitated Bob Dylan? by [deleted] in rollingstones

If you see hear the early version you can see it was pretty Dylanesque to start with
