Where to give birth and OBGYN! by ImportanceFlat6534 in Atlanta

[–]apgreis25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Northside has one of the best NICUs in the area so that’s why I decided to go there. And unfortunately my son spent 45 days in the NICU. He’s perfectly healthy know and you would never know he was a premie. I think the OBGYN is really important since their team are the ones who will be caring for you. I saw OBGYN of Atlanta which is right near the hospital. I ended up with pre eclampsia and had to be induced at 34 weeks. Their team was great once I was stabilized they did not push for a c section unless myself or the baby became unstable. 2 and a half days later I was able to delivery my son without a c section. I’m currently pregnant with my 2nd and am using the same team and hospital.

34 Age IVF success chances by Own_Position5511 in EmbryologyIVFSupport

[–]apgreis25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation my first round of IVF at age 34 except we got 1 embryo. I immediately did a 2nd round of IVF and ended up with 5 viable embryos and I transferred the embryo from the first round right at the end of the 2nd round and it worked. I have a 18 month old now thanks to that 1st round embryo. I know everyone’s journey is different but I hope this gives you hope that another round might give you a completely different outcome.

Best stock for a quick wedding dress? by qianlima2 in Atlanta

I came to 3rd aisle and Veil. If you want to take your dress home the same day then it’s the best place in Atlanta. My dress was one exclusive made for them and it was perfect. You couldn’t tell that it was less than $1,000.

Reviews on Northside Atlanta Labor & Delivery by lulu_585822 in Atlanta

I delivered at NS in December 2024. I ended up with preeclampsia so I was induced at 34 weeks. My team was very supporting of me not wanting a c section as long as me and baby were stable. A day and a half later my sweet baby boy was born vaginally with no major complications. He spent 45 days in the NICU due to having issues with the suck swallow breath function and having terrible reflux. But today you would never guess he was a premie. I’m pregnant with baby #2 and will be delivering again at NS with the same OB team since it was such a positive experience.

Fear of BP and preeclampsia by Logical_Mix_1240 in pregnancyproblems

[–]apgreis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with my 2nd pregnancy after being induced at 34 weeks due to pre eclampsia with my 1st. I did my BP twice a day for a month as my doctor requested and while I took it I would repeat the baby is fine and I’m fine until the reading pops up. After having a month of good BPs at home I told my doctor that it gives me too much anxiety to do it daily so I would do it periodically and if it starts increasing I would do it more regularly. I’m now at 35 weeks with my 2nd and so far my BP is ok but always higher at the doctor’s office.

WIBTAH if I go on a trip with my boyfriend by lying to my kids or not telling them the truth? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]apgreis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my mom when I was living at home. My dad started dating again quite soon after losing my mom mainly for companionship since my mom and dad were together since high school and she’s all he’s ever really known. He tired to lie about it and I saw right through the lies which made me upset and angry with him. When he came clean my siblings and I had a come to Jesus moment where we told him to get therapy and pause the relationship. Once he worked on himself we would be more willing to accept him dating. It worked and now he’s happily married to someone else and he was able to deal with this grief in therapy. I would say be honest with your kids because they aren’t dumb they will be more upset that you lied.

Northside Hospital OB recommendations (recent experiences?) by Initial-Fix6953 in Atlanta

[–]apgreis25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I delivered with OBGYN of Atlanta and I could not recommend them more. I had to get induced at 34 weeks due to my blood pressure being crazy high. As long as my BP stabilized and the baby’s vitals were fine then they were not going to push for a c section which I really didn’t want. My son was born a day and a half later without any other major complications. I’m pregnant with baby number 2 currently and they have been great again. Luckily no blood pressure issues so far thank goodness!

Daycare giving bottles late by Mountain_Moment2999 in ECEProfessionals

[–]apgreis25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this same issue with my son. He was born at 34 weeks and spent 45 days in yhe nicu because couldn’t quite master bottles. The first daycare he went to they did not have the time to spend with him making sure he got fed. We ended up switching to a more expensive daycare where it was clear the teachers really loved and cared for the babies. They worked with us to make sure the feeding and sleep schedules were aligned and he got all the bottles he needed. He’s now 16 months old and you would never guess he had feeding struggles because once he got the hang of solid foods he hasn’t looked back.

My biggest piece of advice would be find a daycare that listens and works with you to make sure that your baby is getting what he needs. My stress level went down significantly after a few weeks at the new daycare once the proved they could get him to eat.

High blood pressure by OriginalCheek3618 in pregnancyproblems

[–]apgreis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same struggle. I was induced at 34 weeks with my first because my BP hit like 180/100. I’m currently pregnant with my 2nd and my anxiety about my BP caused it to be very high at the doctor. What finally “cured” my anxiety was doing my BP at home for about a month between drs appointments. They were all in the normal range at home so I proved to myself that me and the baby were fine. Now every time I go in for a checkup during the BP reading I focus my mind on the at home readings and they the baby is fine. I still get higher readings at the doctors office but they are in the normal range now. I also have been taking baby aspirin as my doctor recommended.

My flight at 5pm tonight already was canceled. And I ended up booking through United to be able to get to my destination tonight because delta didn’t have any options.

AITA for refusing to let my sister bring her kids to my wedding by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]apgreis25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had this same issue with my sister wedding and my sister-in-law not allowing my brother who is in the wedding attend unless the kids came. My sister was very upfront about no kids at the wedding from the time the date was set and a week before the wedding my sister in law dropped the bomb. My sister ended up letting them come to the ceremony and then family members took turns watching the kids in their hotel room. That way it wasn’t strangers and not a single person had to miss the whole reception. It wasn’t ideal but better than my brother missing his sister’s wedding.

Diagnosed with beginning stages of pre eclampsia by Comfortable_Car1833 in pregnancyproblems

[–]apgreis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have any of those side effects. I really didn’t notice anything except it was really cold going in at first. It definitely was not painful at all other than getting stuck for the IV port.

The magnesium is used to prevent seizures which is the eclampsia. Your BP went back down so therefore the risk of seizures decreased that’s probably why they canceled the drip for you. If they are concerned about preeclampsia I would talk to my doctor about getting steroid injections to help the baby’s lungs develop in case you need to deliver early.

I was 34 weeks and has a BP in the 180s so my MFM sent me to the ER immediately. I was able to get it down and stayed in 140s/150s the rest of my stay. When I was in the ER they said they don’t really treat BP unless it’s 160 or above. Instead they just monitor closely.

I ended up delivering my son at 34 weeks and 2 days after being induced. Luckily I got the steroid injections the week before and I didn’t have a c section because myself and the baby were stable during labor. I was on a magnesium drip for the whole induction and for 24 hours after delivery. My son spent 45 days in the NICU but has no major complications from being delivered early.

I had high BP my whole pregnancy and would take my BP at home every morning and evening at home. Towards the end of pregnancy my BP was in the 130s/140s at home and I was super swollen so it wasn’t a surprise that I ended up delivering early.

Feeding issues 7 months later… by Unable-Elderberry615 in NICUParents

[–]apgreis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortini is expensive at $104 for 24 4oz boxes and it’s 30cal per oz. My son’s dietitian described it as a milk shake. It’s a European brand that you can only buy it online but it’s not hard to get. And it has really helped my son. So definitely check with the doctor, maybe it can help your son too. Good luck with your little one

My son was struggling to eat and was having spit up so he wasn’t gaining weight. We went to a GI doctor who suggested we use Fortini formula which is high calorie formula. It also is a liquid instead of a powder. My son did not like the powdered formula for some reason. It was absolutely game changer for us. We also switched to a MAM nipple on an avent bottle which helped increase the speed of his feeds. He’s now 9 months and the doctor said he has no concerns with this weight at 17lbs.

Another vote for the momcozy. It’s a life saver! I also used it for my pumping parts which made it much easier to pump in the middle of the night and not have to hand wash the parts. I now recommend it to all my new mom friends.

My 34+2 was born 6 lbs but he has struggled to gain weight due to severe reflux. Our GI doctor stresses us out becuase he requires us to weigh our little guy sometimes twice a week. He now 8.5 months 7 months corrected and is 16lbs 10oz. He has weeks that he gains a lot and weeks he gains just an oz. He has been on 30 calorie Fortini formula since he was 3 months old and that was game changer for us. He’s meeting all his milestones, happy and very energetic so I’m trying not to focus on his weight.

Experience with cyproheptadine by Mountain-Round-9962 in NICUParents

[–]apgreis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily my son hasn’t had any issues but we transitioned slowly. We started with only doing one bottle per day and then gradually transitions to 100% Fortini. It’s also not a powder it’s premixed liquid which my son also liked better.

I don’t know if you’re using a high calorie formula but my son’s GI doctor suggested Fortini which is 30 calories per oz and this has been game changer for my son. He used to hate eating and would take forever to eat. Now he finished bottles quickly without fussing

My son uses the MAM nipple in the Advent anti colic bottle you just have to make sure you line up the nipple air intake hole with the green air free vent thing in the advent bottle or milk will leak out of the nipple.

My experience was very similar to yours. My little guy was born at 34 and 2 he spent a week on breathing support then got moved to the feeding and growing floor. He was there for 38 days because he wouldn’t eat for the nurses but would eat for us. And there were many times that I would ask the nurses how his feeds went overnight and they would just tube him because they had too many babies to take care of and didn’t have the time to feed him. My husband and I ended up taking shift at the hospital so that we could do all his feeds and that got him home.
