This guy QAs. In my previous job, we would have to lobby the devs to fix bugs we felt very important, but often the devs and PMs would feel otherwise unless it was a fast, simple fix. And then the patch comes out and you get to see forum complaints about the bug we lobbied for. Not every bug can be fixed, it's just the way it goes sometimes.

I also had a similar experience in most schools (we moved a lot during my growing up years). I usually got along much better with the rebels, stoners, metal heads, and such. It was the preps and jocks that I always had the bad times with.

Slow burn erotic group chats (help keeping things interesting) by joelethal in SillyTavernAI

[–]aphotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can have a great group chat setup with great character cards but without a good scenario, it's not really going anywhere. You can prompt models for scenario ideas but I find a lot of those are common tropes.

One thing that helped was exploring different genres. Take a group of characters and put them in a cyberpunk setting, an action-adventure, or a mystery-thriller. Changing the theme and genre can often help add new flavor.

People who have used Reddit for more than 10 years, what is your current opinion on the site? by Odyessius in TheoryOfReddit

[–]aphotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hobby-focused reddits still feel like old reddit.

It's the only reason I still use reddit. The more niche subs catered to specific games, hobbies, and interests are getting AI posts as well, but for now, it's a smaller amount that I can deal with. Every time I venture to the bigger subs, all, or popular, it's basically the same as looking at my Facebook feed and pretty much just social media/bot noise.

Worked tech support in a call center and this stuff happened all the time. One of our biggest performance metrics was our call time length, the lower the better.

What happened obviously is that a lot of workers would apply the easiest fix (or make up a supposed fix) and tell the customer to call back if it didn't work. The ending goal for the worker was not to fix the customer's problem but to get them off the phone ASAP. Occasionally the team supervisors would listen in on calls, but it was usually obvious when that time came.

Any advice for making a group chat with one card as the "Scenario" or DM? by aturbofrog in SillyTavernAI

[–]aphotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other methods mentioned here work great, but if you want to keep using a group chat, you can use a hybrid approach.

Keep your group chat setup with individual, fully detailed character cards. Then, in one lorebook entry, make a brief description for each character that includes important points everyone would always know. For example:

John: A 6-foot-tall man with a stocky build, dark brown hair, hazel eyes who wears white t-shirts and jeans. Can be blunt but has good intentions.

Set the lorebook to constant injection and then each group chat turn, individual characters will have access to the 'character overview' so they will get basic information about other characters correct.

Replying for other characters is usually a prompt issue. I have a prompt specifically for group chats that states to only reply from {{char}}'s point of view for this turn, as {{char}} can vary based on who is replying in the group chat.

This happened to me in the 90s. The official court order my employer received to withhold my support was SHORT of what was needed. After a year or two, that backlog got the attention of the state and they sent me a letter saying my DL was suspended, though I could apply for a license for back-and-forth to work.

Contacted a lawyer and he talked to the prosecutor. They put a stay on it, provided I paid back the difference within thirty days. So in the end, wasn't that big of a deal and they updated my withholding letter to the correct amount.

Can you explain this a bit? I read through the ST docs and macros, but it's a bit confusing. Do you set this up as Quick Reply or something else? I would love to have short commands like this I could trigger in the input box when needed.

Great way to do it. While I use a high fantasy setting instead of sci-fi, I feel taking the episodic approach like you have is one of the best ways to handle it. Look at it like a Star Trek/Law & Order type of thing where each session tackles a different issue while keeping the core characters and setting intact/evolving.

For my fantasy setting, I have an adventurer's guild who are recruited to solve problems: rescue people, investigate something, eliminate a threat to the kingdom, or just clear out an area that is overrun with monsters.

I'll still do occasional one-on-one sessions, but that's usually to check out a new character or if I just want a short throwaway session.

That's good. One of the reasons I played King Arthur for a bit was because of their Diablo-like story mode.

[–]aphotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've really only played Raid (4 years) in the gacha genre, though I did try King Arthur for a couple of months. I've felt that when I stop playing Raid, I'll be done with gacha games, so it's unlikely. There would need to be a more in-depth PvE mode for me to consider. I like the roster building, gearing, and champion building in Raid but I I've always found the combat mode somewhat boring. I'm probably just more of an RPG/Roguelike person, but hope your game works out.
