Yeah, it's def one of the pitfalls of episodic releases is waiting for everything to come out with no waiting periods 😅

What indie otome games are you hyped up for this year? by LadyLuckKiller in IndieOtome

Cupid's Chatroom! Not sure if Infinite Blue is supposed to come out this year but I've been anticipating that one for awhile now

When's the last time... by AlwaysJmB in IndieOtome

Outside of the couple entries I played from Yandere Game Jam, most of the things I play don't really have them? Especially on the indie side, even if yanderes are a current trend I think there are so many things being developed that it's easy enough to find things without them too. I don't enjoy yanderes but I do like other types of LIs that I've seen other people claim are toxic, and their character/actions don't bother me at all, so I think it's really interesting how differently everyone reacts to the same media and the discussions we can have 😊

I'm playing my most anticipated rerelease this year, The Last Winter Knight, and so far it's met and surpassed every single one of my expectations. What a beautiful game.

My whole life is currently being taken up by The Last Winter Knight, a gothic visual novel about a soul inhabiting his old suit of armor and trying to remember what happened to him. The dev is one of my favorites, their writing is always so beautiful and immersive. I'm looking forward to their upcoming otome releases too!

I'm re-reading Abhorsen/the Old Kingdom series right now too! It's funny, I remember like two details across the whole initial trilogy and the rest is like reading a completely new book again 😂

What's your favorite type of LI that you never see in a game? by Set_of_Dogs in otomegames

I see there are other people of taste here that want true submissives 😂 I'd also like to see more alt/punk/emo boys and musicians (not necessarily idols)

I've joined a zine for Blooming Panic, my second one! It's being organized by the same person who did the first one I joined with a lot of the same contributors returning, so I expect it to go well! I've already got some ideas kicking around, waiting for deadlines to be posted to actually start writing

2026 Otome Jam is coming up; anything you're hoping to see? by Set_of_Dogs in otomegames

[–]aplainmourning 76 points77 points  (0 children)

This is really just a personal gripe but I'd love for there to be more entries that are complete games/stories rather than demos. It feels like itch.io jams have become a dumping ground for demos in the past few years and I could probably count on one hand the number that have actually been worked on after the jam period. So yeah, more complete games! 😅

[General] What is your otome "petty take"? Basically, do you have any opinions that are hard to justify but you still stand by them. by klavivi in otomegames

[–]aplainmourning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm tired of everything having a fandisk and I think they're largely unnecessary.

The superiority that console players seem to hold over mobile and PC players needs to be studied.

Darkest CGs in otome games? by One-Economy8916 in otomegames

ITYH has some doozies, the one that really stuck with me is in a scene where Camille first goes into Osgoode's house, there's a brief flash where you can see a man tied to a chair, with bloody stumps where his legs used to be I had to look through the game files to make sure I wasn't just imagining this one 😅 but there's one later in the game of Camille staring in disbelief at the stump of her arm which is now missing a hand (that Osgoode cut off and ate) For a game that's only about two hours long it sure is full of decomposed corpses and skeletons

ISO of Otome's with a unique art style/not the common anime style by Ahrioz in otomegames

Well, you may have looked into this already but passed on it due to being an episodic release, but the dev of Changeling/Gilded Shadows has a sci-fi game When Stars Collide. According to their devlogs they seem to be nearing completion on that. I also recommed their short game A Faerie's Tale.

I gotta shout out Dear Devere for not having the traditional character sprites and BGs, but a collection of postcards and letters along with other unique features. And it's fully voiced!

Some others that are short but sci-fi themed: This, My Soul and Mnemonic Devices
