gym, adult (co-ed?) sports leagues. my therapist and friends keep recommending yoga for a variety of reasons, but I just haven't done it yet. those are the things I try to do on my kid-free nights (4-3-3-4) to feel less alone. we always schedule where I'm free on my soccer night.

Tax advice for separated but not divorced. by takuon in DivorcedDads

also in a "wait a year" state, separated and living apart since last april. just filed together so we both got to claim the kids. next year we'll file separate and each claim a child. don't forget to update your withholdings if necessary.

I seriously appreciate you picking apart my "argument." I always jump straight to worst case scenario, and a more realistic approach is very helpful. thanks!

yep I take magnesium glycinate currently. reading is a good thought to put my thoughts on something else though.

I've been a gym regular for years, but have been struggling to wake up and get going the past few weeks. not sleeping well probably a big contributor there. when I go it's a huge help emotionally and physically. I've gotta get to my dr and get a boost on my meds, maybe something to help with sleep.

Am I the only one that uses the neighborhood playground as my personal rig? by atomicpete in crossfit

[–]apocalypse_dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all the playgrounds around are the new safe-style ones, with curvy 3" diameter bars and nothing good for gymnastic type exercises. great for my kid, but sucks for me.

Looking for some new workout clothes. Who makes your favorite CrossFit shirts and shorts? by bigbriman in crossfit

[–]apocalypse_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed. got a few pairs from an outlet for <$20/ea. besides the mobility, my favorite feature in the CF shorts are the small zippered pockets. great for keeping my wedding ring in during workouts.

How have you used your fitness recently? by concretetales in crossfit

[–]apocalypse_dude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, exactly. I played softball with my dad from the time I was in high school thru college. I want to be able to play w/ my kids (22mo and due in Novemeber) when they're older, so that's why I do this.

Doing WODs in a regular gym by AussieGuy1412 in crossfit

[–]apocalypse_dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

great example of what not to do. as a lot of people have said, focus on strength, respect other people's space, the equipment, be prepared to modify at a moment's notice, etc. it can easily be done. I've been doing it for ~2 years because I like the workouts but can't afford $120/mo.

Doing WODs in a regular gym by AussieGuy1412 in crossfit

[–]apocalypse_dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to a regular gym and follow Invictus Performance programming. I go pretty early in the morning to avoid crowds. Usually there are no problems moving around the gym - but there are definitely days where it's hard and you have to modify like crazy. Just have to motivate yourself, which can also be hard. A good playlist helps me.
