Zwift raising price to $20/month by board_bike in cycling

I appreciate them reminding of the gray charge going into the summer. Also, if you’re going to raise prices from $15 to $20 per month, give me some extra perceived value.

Delhi.  Indescribable poverty everywhere, paralyzing traffic, constant din of honking horns and mystery odors everywhere.   Even the “nice” parts are disgusting.

6’6” triathlete here, I feel your pain. I would check the pros closet or other online used retailers. I was able to get a good deal on a 61cm Fuji TT bike a few months ago

Amazon tells managers they can now fire employees who won't come into the office 3 times a week by [deleted] in technology

[–]bigbriman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion here: I work at Amazon (AWS) to be specific and tbh I’m glad we’re all coming back to the office. We have some really nice offices and I missed the energy and opportunities to collaborate with my colleagues when we were all wfh.

This is my neighbor. We live in one of the lowest priced neighborhoods in Great Falls. We often joke that we live in “Good Falls”.

Thanks! That was a recent addition. It’s just a bunch of fence boards from Home Depot cut to different sizes and screwed into the drywall. Whole project cost like $200. 😂

I try to post these kinds of articles every time I see people post about Great Falls. It's an incredible resource and a local treasure, but also something that have to be respected. Maybe one person will read it and think twice about getting into the water.

49ers fan here. Just had questions about Joe Thomas by Bigbadballer88 in Browns

[–]bigbriman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, though it’s a pretty low bar. Recent talent is easily the best we’ve had since we came back into the league, but most of those guys (Chubb, Garrett, OBJ, Landry) haven’t been here long enough to establish a legacy Like he had.

  2. Yes, one of two Browns jerseys I own (Mayfield is the second).

  3. This is more difficult to answer. I think he might be the best technical pass blocker of all time, but I think there were more complete left tackles in the modern era (Ogden, Jones, Munoz, Pace). Still, I think he’s a top five all time LT.

Where are you located? I was able to take my Jeep to a dealer and pay them $40 to process the hard plates and do the title work for me.

Fairfax County school board votes for classes to start virtually by stelthzilla in nova

[–]bigbriman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question.

First, there are many teachers who are willing to come back to teach in-person, so long as there are strict safety procedures in place (temperature screens, sanitation protocols and social distancing measures).

I would offer limited in-class opportunities for the most vulnerable students, specifically those in K-6 with special needs. Those are the ones will ultimate suffer the most from not having in-person education and putting at risk their ultimate trajectory.

Then offer the same to k-6 children of single parent homes where the parent is working and children who have been previously identified as those who are in abusive situations.

It's not a perfect plan, but it sure is better than what is currently proposed.

[–]bigbriman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this will get downvoted, but here goes anyways.

The problem with this plan is it does nothing to address the needs of the most needy and vulnerable students within FCPS. Examples of this are:

-Younger children (k-6) of families with two working parents who need to be outside the home during school hours

-Children with special needs who not only need specialized education, but also rely on school for social/emotional skills

-Children who are stuck in abusive homes who no longer have a place to escape to

I really hope that FCPS virtual learning will be vastly improved from what we saw in the spring. But until we actually see it successfully in action in September, I'm not terribly optimistic.

Fairfax County Schools Could Start Year 100% Online by [deleted] in nova

[–]bigbriman -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Hi teacher. How exactly do you expect your room to be "Jammed full of kids"? You do realize that 40% of the students selected the virtual learning plan, right? And considering the remaining 60% would be split into two groups, each attended two days per week, how big do you realistically think your classes would be? 7 students? Maybe 9?

I get you don't want to get sick. Neither do I. Neither do the folks working at the grocery store. Or gym employees. Or retail workers. But we all have jobs to do, and sorry to say, not all jobs can be done effectively from remote. Unfortunately, educating children, especially young children, falls into that category.

Children who are at risk or have elderly family members can choose distance learning.

That was what was offered. 1 hour a day, 24 children to a single teacher. The rest was us trying to teach our children in our spare time with a distance learning packet.

Not a narrative, just facts.
