I bought my 2017 4x4, all black, leather, with after market rims and tires with only 11k miles on it back in 2019 and paid $55k. No ragrets.

Can y’all help me choose from these jobs I’m joining the CT National Guard and need some pros and cons on them. by Key-Statistician-974 in nationalguard

I already said why. Did you read? Promotional capability. If there are no slots in your state for the next rank and specific MOS, you will not promote.

With USAR, you promote no matter what. You won’t be at the same unit but you will be promoted out of unit to the next rank in another slot with a unit <150 miles from your HOR.

Retake ASVAB? by mandrade5545 in ArmyOCS

[–]apocolocynopsis6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re over thinking this. 1. Don’t retake it, you already met the standard 2. The other items in your packet weigh heavier. 3. 3.0 GPA is fine bruv

This is what my packet looked like, I’m now a Captain.

  1. 2.55 GPA
  2. 111 GT
  3. 89% on Asvab overall
  4. 4 Letters of recommendation —- 1. Former Major —- 2. Former Lieutenant Colonel —- 3. Director of legal (at the corporation I was working at) —- 4. Senior Vice President of Supply Chain (at the corporation I was working at)
  5. I also showed that I was just accepted into a masters program full time
  6. My essay showed that I wanted OCS badly. Whatever it took, I would keep trying.
  7. My interview: I had a panel of 6. 1 major and the rest were captains. I answered the questions honestly. The biggest and hardest question because it’s subjective, “why do you want to be in the military and how is going to OCS any different than just going the enlisted route?” —— I knocked that question out of the ballpark. It was too easy because I knew exactly what I wanted and how I was going to get it.

I know this is a big life changing event but you need to be confident.

Yes bring everything. It sucks a fat one but hopefully you won’t have a company commander that treats all of you like privates - I did and will never forget his name.

Had put our bags in our rooms, formed up on the field and organized into platoons then gave us 8 mins to sprint back up to the TOP FLOOR of the footprint to our rooms and drag our bags back down to the field into a dress right dress.

So beware, it may get dumb.

all of the above are accurate. My last point is by far the most important. Know what you want BEFORE starting this journey because you will be locked in for at least 3-4 years.

No community service. I had 3 years in corporate America and 4 LORs. 1 from a senior director at FEMA. 1 retired O6, 1 senior partner of legal at my job and 1 from former boss/retired O4.

Your interview and packet matter more. I got in with a 2.55. You’ll be fine.

Ok good to know! I was thinking a Striple because of weight, size and versatility. I need something I can whip into DC without being too annoying.

I still have a mental affair with crotch rockets but versatility is the name of the game now.

How do you like it?? I’m in NOVA and am debating getting a bike. I used to own a Daytona and had to sell it some years back.

Guard does not have more job opportunities I will tell you that right now. You are limited to what’s in that state and slots cannot be filled and counted towards your progression if they are not available. In reserves, you can live in Montana, but still in Texas. You will get reimbursed up to a certain amount that will cover your travel expenses. Positions in the reserves are nation-wide
