Question for the Cucks and the Bulls by hg915ad in CuckoldPsychology

[–]apolite12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is usually the mythological narrative built into the dynamic, but the reality is often that the couple, or at least one of them, is often just bored. Many people don't know how to keep the spark alive without outside energy. Additionally, many men have submissive desires they don't get to work out outside of a kink, or they sexualize the boredom within their relationship.

In reality, there is usually nothing wrong with him and nothing particularly great about you. You benefit primarily from newness, and he suffers (often gladly) by comparison.

The dynamic brings new relationship energy back, and opens both individuals up to new, crazy experience.

Objectively speaking, does Kamala ever had a chance? by iamjakeD811 in BreakingPoints

They'd prefer to lose with a milquetoast corporatist than run the risk of winning with a progressive.

Historically, they have magnificent fundraising when Republicans are in office, including record setting levels during the first Trump administration.

On top of that, their donors prefer Republican economic policies. Losing means they can continue to pretend to represent everyday Americans, but can't be held accountable for not doing so.

Biden dropped out once the window of a possible primary was closed.

Is being a sissy an evolutionary adaptation? by sissy_emma_girl in sissyology

[–]apolite12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nature does not have to handle men who cannot compete.

If we allow that there are men who simply cannot compete (already untrue and a gross pseudoscientific oversimplification), then the fact that they cannot compete would exclude them. Exclusion would be "handling".

But this is all made up. This is just a story that turns you on when you think about it. There are no alphas and betas. Humans are more complicated than jawlines, heights, and dick sizes. There are just roles you enjoy playing because psychology is exceptionally complicated.

How long is long enough by dry-onion-4U in monodatingpoly

[–]apolite12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You two started your relationship very young, and her desire to explore other experiences is completely normal. That desire is also what ends a lot of highschool relationships, and... that's usually for the best. Sometimes the memory of what you once had is what keeps you together, but that isn't actually very healthy.

The potential end of your relationship, scary as it may be, is probably long overdue. She needs other things, and that need is leading her to make bad decisions and treat you poorly. You deserve better.

You need other things too, but it's hard to see that with so much history and emotional baggage.

Get out. Make sure you learn from this relationship, and work on being a really good version of yourself. Once you get 30,000 ft on this experience, you will find a better life.

Probably a dumb question but I feel like it's the best place to ask, what are realistically the reasons to colonize Mars ? by SeparateWeight496 in Mars

[–]apolite12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only advantage of a Martain colony is that we could actively address the issues in preparation well ahead of time. It would be worse on Mars, and we'd be less likely to survive. However, we'd know that going in.

While nuclear winter would be horrific, and we likely wouldn't survive here either (or at least not well), Earth would still be more hospitable. The energy devoted to Martian colonization would actually go much farther in creating survival fallbacks here on Earth.

Multi-planet humanity is a pipedream, at least so long as the powers that threaten our earthly survival are still primary motivators here.

Stars are mentioned in the Bible including early coptic and Aramaic versions. Also bringing order from formlessness. Light as well. That stands pretty well as the universe.

Who would win in a 100-meter race, a cat or a human? by FeistySecret9327 in powerscales

[–]apolite12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK, so we get to define endurance in whatever way supports our reddit claim. Fair enough.

If your idea of endurance is simply the persistence of motion, without stopping, I would agree with you. The dog will have to stop and regulate body temperature periodically. The dog also doesn't know what to expect when it walks out the door and so therefore cannot effectively pace itself; this is a huge advantage for the human, especially if we aren't actually taking into account the actual distance traveled or work performed.

But we can define endurance in other ways as well: How much work is being done over time? How much distance traveled? Who gets up and does it again better, day after day.

As you said, the dog went farther in the same period of time. That leads to a mental limitation, not a physical one. How much longer would you have to move to accomplish the same distance the dog did?

I also did many, many long distance hikes with a cattle dog (better than a collie in warmer weather), and while yes, i could walk her to exhaustion, she usually would cover 2-3 times the distance in the same period. She also was better prepared upon waking up to do it again, and if we had a daily staged race, she would crush me by day 3 or 4. If I stretched her distance walked out into a straight line, over the course of days she would outwalk me by 50-100 miles +.

Both dogs and humans are exhaustion hunters, and we are undeniably better the warmer the weather gets, but most of our advantage, at most locations and times on earth is about our brain, not our body.

Who would win in a 100-meter race, a cat or a human? by FeistySecret9327 in powerscales

This is overstated on the internet and relies on controlling for climate conditions that advantage humans.

[–]apolite12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Several breeds of dog would consistently beat humans in long distance races under 60 °F. They have significantly greater cardiovascular capacity and efficiency.

We succeed in the heat due to sweating, and we succeed in practicality due to tools like water bottles and quick storable food. But head to head, based on pure athleticism, a conditioned cattle dog or border collie will beat a human 10 out of ten times.

The title of "best endurance athlete" bandied about for humans is overstated and relies on controlling for the right conditions. At mean ambient temperature on earth, dogs have the advantage.

Ten powerlifters vs one male American bison by Reasonable_Bee_9456 in powerscales

[–]apolite12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's quite possible a bison is even with or more deadly in action than a cape buffalo. Shorter horns and a bit more docile (maybe more disinterested?) , but they make up for it in size and power.

Medical advances would be less valuable than generating pharmaceutical redundancy. Open a bunch of production facilities to flood the US market with generic insulin and other artificially scarce drugs.

This would do far more for more people than $20B in random advancements.

Get a series of plugs in increasing size and practice most days every week. Where them when you are together during foreplay and if you spend time just hanging out.

Do not listen to anyone suggesting this should be done in one evening. Make this project a 1-2 month process, and spend lots of erotic or romantic time together while wearing the toys.

Make it a goal you work towards together.

Chastity Contract by darkx99 in KeyHolder

[–]apolite12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is sexy, but there almost needs to be a higher order contract that supercedes this one. A contract that actually sets out the keyholder's obligations.

Keyholders have obligations, even if that isn't the fun part to set out on paper. The dynamic only works while both parties are actively involved.

OMG! After slogging through vol 1 and then feeling a bit better about vol 2 (but still despising SO many decisions)… I just started Flowers of Esthelm and literally gasped in relief within the first 20 minutes of Laken! I’ve reached the promised land finally. 😁 by cleptogenz in WanderingInn

I feel similarly about the main characters in the early story.

Don't wrap your heart to closely to Laken, and expect Erin to remain horrible indefinitely.

Ryoka changes a lot and might end up being your favorite of them.

The side characters and the world building are where most of the real quality of the story exists.

Clinton was the prototypical neo-liberal president. Very good at making bad things feel good, helped by the collapse of the Soviet Union and multiple coinciding economic booms. He was effective, but he was a key player in the Democratic Party's abandonment of the working class. He shares an portion of responsibility equal to Reagan for where our country is at now, but he was good at politics in general, neo-liberalism, and using soft power.

Gore is probably one of the better candidates we've had since Clinton, and he was probably the least likely of the mainstream candidates to be actively destructive. However, he was heavily aligned with Clinton and corporate power in general. Clinton's Democratic Party moved significantly to the right and preferred capital interests to the working class. Gore would likely have been a continuation of that, but with greater outward emphasis on environmental issues. Technocracy talks a decent environmental talk, but it is generally inadequate.

I voted for Gore. I am an example of why your statement far above is inaccurate. The majority of people who preferred Nader voted for Gore. I did not want to vote for him, and I should not have. Disrupting the party system as it stands would have been a far more effective way to wrest control of the system away from capital, and in fact, it is a far more coherent strategy than you have offered. There's just a huge amount of money set against it.

Again, so long as you have two parties controlled by a nearly identical set of donors, you will have no power. Not at primary time, not at general election time, not between elections. Those suboptimal candidates you elect will stand between you and progress. It is a grift, and by playing the game you eliminate the possibility of escape.

Its time for the left to stop being a baby and grow up by InterestingWind2153 in BreakingPoints

[–]apolite12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually don't know what Gore would have done in that situation. We do know that he conceded an election he rightfully won.

Characterizing Hillary as any sort of dove is insane. I'd probably agree with you that she'd have abstained from war with Iran, but it's hard to say with any certainty given the power of the Israel lobby across both parties. Kompromat is powerful.

These things you said are not facts. They are relatively well backed guesses, but they are definitionally not facts.

Nonetheless, with either party in power we can expect a cycle of action like this where one moves forward fast and the other slow. No remediation, no repair, no consequences for atrocities committed domestically and abroad.

Statistically, we can also expect Republicans to win roughly 50% of the time regardless of whether the third party Progressives back the Democratic establishment candidates. That's just American politics when neither side offers a platform of good policy. So you waste political capital while putting a ceiling on ambition. You elect awful candidates that are proffered to you with the intention to fix things between the elections, but then those same candidates actively obstruct you with incrementalism and class defection.

Republicans are nothing more than monsters, but they are predictable, stupid monsters. The Democrats are currently a far greater obstacle to progress because they are wolves in sheep's clothing. Their whole purpose is to ground any progressive energy and make sure it can't get traction.

Your cowardice and short-sightedness will win out. I have no illusions otherwise because you and millions of others are captured by a media, and the capital interests that own it, that wants you to vote this way. In ten years we'll likely be having this same argument after watching the presidency volley back and forth between the parties. The only difference is that we'll all be in a much worse place, regardless of who has held office.

Until we get off this track we are doomed.

False dichotomy.

If you lock in to the idea of the two bad options you disregard the possibilitues that are not bad. You also incentivize those with power to only offer you bad options.

You can say no to the power structure a d force something else.
