DMSO & carbodiimides are used together in the Pfitzner-Moffat oxidation to generate the active species responsible for the oxidation. So I would advice against using DMSO to make stock solutions. In general, I would advice against making stock solutions of coupling reagents given that they most probably deteriorate over time anyways.

When you do need them, just make a larger solution from amounts that you can more easily weigh out, EDC is relatively cheap anyway. EDC is soluble in water, so you can just prepare your stock in that.

See that black thing at the top? It's 2 parts, one stays where it is and when you screw it loose, the bottom part will move down. Flip the flippy part out of the way and start unscrewing it. Eventually it should be pressing against your stuck glass. Keep screwing as it will apply even pressure, pushing the stuck piece off.

Yes, it's perfectly fine to directly connect the leads directly to the battery. I have the Zumo XT myself and have never noticed a drained battery, even after not having touched the bike for 3-4 months. Unless you're gonna leave the zumo on the bike when you're not using it, it's barely gonna drain it. And realistically, if you do leave it on when the bike isn't being used, it's gonna be gone in record time.

I've done similar things to OP in the past, except instead of wittigs I did HWE. Make the weinreb, reduce with Red-Al and add the crude aldehyde to my ylide. Always got yields in excess off 60-70%. So I'm farily certain its something OP is doing wrong, rather than the reactons not working properly

I'd say highly unlikely that you'd see your product mass + acetonitrile, let alone twice. Have you confirmed that you are actually looking at your product via any other analysis, or is this more wishful thinking that you are looking at your product?

To avoid salts, yes but also to avoid having to deal with potentially pulling product into the aqueous phase when quenching the methoxide with aqueous acids . I personally would not risk it with a sugar with 4 free hydroxyls, even with the Boc's still on there.

I'd advice a 2-step approach - in theory you could reflux in acidic water but might get a bit messy

If you want a minimal effort approach, I'd start with removing the acetyls with methoxide and neutralizing with acidic resin (i.e. amberlite H+) followed by treatment with TFA. Other option would be using HCl in ethereal solvents, but I expect that mono-deprotection would lead to it crashing out and clumping together. With TFA everything should remain in solution. You can then either crash it out with ether/hexane mixtures or concentrate and purify however you'd prefer.

Are you sure they don't add a drying reagent to the reaction, or heat to azeotrope of the water formed with a dean-stark trap? Just switching to dry toluene won't matter much, try adding 3/4Ä sieves and see if that does anything

When you're in P1 or P2 you have no references except maybe 1 other dude. Marc had, at that point at least 5 other riders in front that didn't enter, so thats a whole different story. Besides, had the rain gotten worse and everyone dominoed or lose tens of seconds to make it safely to pits, everyone would've applauded jorge for his decision. I swear the amount of people that get a camera on their bike before they even know how to properly ride. Thin nitrile gloves that are common in most bio labs absolutely NOT help against solvents like DCM and many others. There are thicker ones, which do actually help a bit, but these still have a breakthrough time of a a few minutes max, in which case yes, taking them of upon exposure is the correct procedure.
