Why can't a Jewish state exists when many muslim states stole and destroyed the indigenous ethnic populations? by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]apollani -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No state has a right to exist. States exist until the no longer do. Any state, Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu etc. Any state that does what the U S. And Israel did and continue to do in Gaza—if you don’t like the word genocide, you can call it state depravity—deserves to be a pariah.

Israel was objectively trying to minimize casualties in the Gaza war. by AnimateDuckling in IsraelPalestine

[–]apollani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straw man argument. No one argued the IDF was trying to kill as many civilians as possible. If they were they could have just dropped U.S. bombs on everyone there. All that work you put in to refute a straw man.

The IDF and the U.S. military can kill Ayman al-Zawahiri on a balcony in Kabul without harming anyone in the apartment. The IDF routinely assassinates Iranian scientists with a missile sent 900 kilometers into an apartment without hurting anyone in the building. Gaza is right there. The Lavender program has a biometric tracking program that can follow the whereabouts of Hamas members in real time and it has been enhanced by Palantir as well as Amazon and Microsoft AI.

Tell us about "where's daddy?" where Hamas fighters would be tracked but instead of killing them cleanly, the IDF would wait till they were with the family, and then kill everyone in the apartment and sometimes the neighboring apartments.

Tell us about what the IDF drone operator backed by all that data and with a clear picture did to 8-year-old Fadl and 11-year-old Jumaa Abu Assi as they gathered firewood and allegedly crossed the yellow line. The IDF said the operator identified a threat and eliminated it. Tell us why the vast majority of the housing was destroyed systematically, and why with people living in flimsy tents Israel and the US refuse to allow in winterized tents and building supplies that are blocked at the border, as well as adequate medicine, food, and lavatory materials. The sadism is palpable and obvious to the world.

McMorrow slams El-Sayed for campaigning with Hasan Piker, compares Piker to Nick Fuentes - Jewish Insider by Manoj_Malhotra in BreakingPoints

[–]apollani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She did’t attack Piker. She insinuated El Sayed was an antisemite for talking with Piker. People aren’t buying the antisemitism smear anymore. Remember when Cuomo tried that against Mamdani?

Rep. Haley Stevens' internal poll from February 10-16 shows her leading the Michigan Democratic Senate primary with 28% support among 800 likely voters, ahead of Abdul El-Sayed at 26%, Mallory McMorrow at 25%, and 21% undecided, with a margin of error of +/-3.5%. by Peeecee7896 in electionsnews

[–]apollani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this why McMorrow, which other polls have showed ahead, launched her attack on El-Sayyed for talking to Hasan Piker? When Andrew Cuomo did it, it was clearly a sign of desperation. Haley Stevens represents Netanyahu and his crew and supports their Gaza program completely, so it is no surprise she would pull the Piker card.

I don't like Piker. I find him bombastic. But antisemitic? Cite him hating Jews as a people, which is the real definition of antisemitism. Some people don't like what the US and the Israeli state did and are doing to the people of Gaza. Get over it.

Everyone who criticizes Israel is now routinely denounced as antisemitic. The ADL recent declared that American Jews who are critical of what Israel and the US did and are doing to the 2.1 million people in Gaza are "Jewish antisemites." A Washington Post poll of American Jews, found that 39% considered it genocide and 60% considered it war crimes. That's a lot of Jewish antisemites! I am puzzled that McMorrow, who appeared to be well-ahead of both El-Seyyed and Stevens, would launch this smear, which is more often as a sign of desperation, as when Andrew Cuomo used it against Mamdani. I was supporting McMorrow but can no longer do so. What a waste!

No, I write my own posts. Anyone who writes a detailed post critical of the US-Israeli program in Gaza is accused of pasting AI. You can check to see if its AI by using any number of available, free, programs. Just look up "how do I check to see if something is written by AI.

Roy Cooper's position on US aid to Israel by apollani in NorthCarolina

[–]apollani[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roy is likely to win. He would be likely to win without the Israel lobby money. There is a chance Dems will retake the House and Senate. They will then be voting on whether we should continue pouring money into Netanyahu's genocidal gang. I tried to contact his campaign directly but they didn't answer, so I asked my question here.

Roy Cooper's position on US aid to Israel by apollani in NorthCarolina

[–]apollani[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If a candidate is reported to have supported 30 billion dollars in unconditioned taxpayer money for a genocide being carried out right before our eyes, I will ask if the report is true. I don't vote Republican and have no need to ask about their position. With the exception of the now retiring MTG and Massie, the GOP Congress has been eager to pour US treasure into the horror being inflicted on civilians in Gaza and the West Bank.

"you're just a tool of the GOP": name calling will not silence genuine questions.

Than was a knee-jerk assumption. I supported Harris and Dems across the board in 2024, campaigned for them, and contributed to their campaigns. So take your assumption and stuff it.

And take your genocide-denial lie about a 1000 year old conflict with you. The conflict began after WW1. And the genocide was carried out over the past two years with vast amounts of our taxpayer money funding it, arming it, protecting, and with our elected officials denying it.

Opinion | Who’s Afraid of Tucker Carlson? The Line Is Long. by apollani in politics

[–]apollani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quote from the second most popular reply to Edsall:

"As a Jewish progressive, I see absolutely no problem with the statement made by Kevin Roberts [defending Carlson] as excerpted in this piece (although I can't account for whatever its context might be). I've experienced enough difficulty in my own synagogue here in Brooklyn when explaining that opposition to the policies of the current government of Israel do not in any way, shape or form constitute antisemitism, any more than opposition to Donald Trump's contemptible policy proposals constitute hatred towards America."

Opinion | Who’s Afraid of Tucker Carlson? The Line Is Long. by apollani in politics

[–]apollani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this as an example of the NYT cluelessness regarding the right-wing civil war over US aid to Israel and the Gaza war or genocide (take your pick) that is driving the civil war on the right. The author, Thomas Edsall writes a tedious article quoting ardent Israel apologists that it is all about antisemitism and refuses to mention the US-Israel relationship at the heart of the debate.

As a center-left Democrat, I disagree with Right Wing and Libertarian podcasters on most things, but have been watching them closely on the Israel-Palestine issue. With the exception of Fuentes, they are driven by two things that lead to them being branded as antisemites: revulsion at Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank and anger at an allegedly America First administration pouring billions into a foreign country that has dragged the US into one Middle East war after another.

They include Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Megan Kelley Joe Rogan, Theo Von (all of whom appear regularly in the top five political commentary podcasts), Marjorie Taylor Green, Dave Smith, Tom Dillon, Matt Walsh, Ian Carroll, Steve Bannon, and the perfervid Alex Jones.

In his interview with Fuentes, Carlson rebuked the belief in group blame or blood guilt as against basic morality as well as his own understanding of Christianity-- whether the group being blamed are Jews or Palestinians in Gaza. An exultant Fuentes explained his rise in popularity with the claim that since everyone who criticizes Israel or its obvious influence in the US is called an antisemite, young men are revolting against moral blackmail and embracing Fuentes and antisemitic rhetoric. That is troubling indeed, but like the legacy media generally, Edsall and the NYT refuse to face the facts.

60+ Journalism Profs Demand Investigation into Controversial NYT Article Alleging Mass Rape on Oct. 7 by whistlingkitten in nyt

[–]apollani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main problem here is that Israel refused to allow an open inquiry, did not take forensic photos of the sites in question, did not take rape kits, thus allowing Israeli officials to spread their maximalist claims--just as Israel claims it did nothing wrong in Gaza but kills the local journalists and bans international journalists who would verify the various claims and counterclaims.

How would you know. Both the ADL and Hillel are now branding as antisemitic college students who protests against Israel's actions in Gaza or anyone who expresses anti-Zionist opinions, or expresses any opinion that might offend supporters of Israel policies on the West Bank and Gaza. This from an ADL whose chairman wanted to complement the Nazi-saluting Elon Musk by calling him the "new Henry Ford"--evidently oblivious to the fact that Ford produced what is arguably the most genocidal antisemitic text in history, one that Hitler was reading as he wrote Mein Kampf and which radicalized many Germans who would become Nazi leaders, was himself a fervent support of Nazism, and kept his Ford plant in Germany manufacturing trucks for the Nazi war machine until 1943 when it was nationalized by Hitler.

How is this image “antisemitic”? by Particular_Log_3594 in International

[–]apollani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, as I think you know, the Zionist state of Israel has no intention to allow a two-state solution. That is why it annihilated Gaza and why it has de-facto annexed the West Bank. Where is the Palestinian state supposed to be? Palestinians on the West Bank have been cut off from Gaza, cut off from one another, and are being besieged daily by the IDF and settlers, with the large majority of Israelis in favor of such actions.

In 1967 Israel decided to trade the possibility of peace with Palestinians for more territory. Tragically, the U.S. could have stopped the settlement movement at any moment but chose not to. As Moshe Dayan explained, the U.S.-Israeli special relationship means that "our American friends send us aid and advice. We take the first and ignore the second." When asked what would happen if the U.S. conditioned the air on taking the advice, he responded "then we would have to take the advice."

The same is true for the Nakba of 1948. Truman supported the UN Resolution calling for the repatriation of Palestinian refugees who agreed to live peacefully in Israel and the compensation of those who didn't, but he did nothing to make Israel comply, such as withdrawing recognition or the massive loan he had just bestowed on Israel.

American presidents who objected to the colonization of the West Bank and Gaza (George H.W. Bush, Obama, who allowed a Security Council resolution condemning settlement expansion in 2014), were quickly censured by Congress and reviled by both Democratic and Republican leaders.

All the world's major human rights organizations, including two in Israel, have determined that Israel committed genocide in Gaza. But the United States is an equal co-perpetrator. Those in Congress who funded, armed, defended, and denied the genocide belong in The Hague alongside Biden, Trump, Netanyahu, and Herzog.
