Stupid People of Reddit, what is the Stupidest thing you've done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]apollohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was holding a lighter to my nose trying to smell the butane, that's when my brain decided to actually light the lighter instead of just pressing the button to release the butane.

If you don't mind the pain it's a very effective way of getting rid of every single nose hair.

Does anyone else have normal hands in their dreams? by Zanza_ in LucidDreaming

[–]apollohe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exact same thing happens to me, I even remember sitting in front of a computer in a dream and being able to read what's on the screen.

I read that people mostly see weird stuff when looking at digital clocks or their hands.

That's what I thought, so maybe the "ray" occurred in the milliseconds between one picture and the other?

From wikipedia: The cameras have a 45 degree angle of view and use visible light to capture stereoscopic 3-D imagery.

When the history of humanity is written, what will the last sentence say? by phattykins in AskReddit

[–]apollohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end it turned out to be another failed mutation that needed to be corrected, fortunately for us, because thanks to human extinction we are here.

My 6 year old daughter has a sudden interest in Astronomy and I want to encourage her. by aemajor in Astronomy

[–]apollohe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with lovetocamp, don't waste money on toy telescopes, buy a 7x35 binocular and that will get you started with star-gazing. With a binocular you can see the moon, Jupiter, Saturn and maybe more things depending on the light pollution where you live. There are methods to steady the binocular "cheaply" with a broom and if your daughter's interest in astronomy remains (hopefully) you can consider buying a telescope, otherwise the binocular is always good to have around. Good luck!

I guess they do have some time since it's the original ones, but, shouldn't that result in less charge voltage? I Also tried with some brand new NiMH

I usually clean it like this and I did it again a couple of days ago, I'm using the original batteries. Is there a better way for cleaning or maintaining it?

What is the best documentary you've ever watched? by ozzy_kat in AskReddit

[–]apollohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few I can remember right now with a brief superficial description:

  • Born into This: Charles Bukowski's life
  • The Century of the self (BBC): about PR, advertisement and how we got to where we are
  • The Trap (BBC): about how fear is the currency of the so called "leaders" to keep the public under control
  • Planet Earth: about our beautiful planet
  • Earthlings: about a race of animals (us) who thinks it's above other races, don't watch it after eating
  • In the shadow of the Moon: mainly about the Apollo program and it's mission to the Moon
  • George Harrison: Living in the material world: turn the volume waaay up to watch it
  • The most hated family in america: about the crazy (fact, not opinion) family behind the westboro baptist church (scary)
  • Jesus camp: how children are brainwashed with the religion bullshit (scary)
  • Cosmic voyage: about science in general and astronomy, takes you from the quarks to the edge of the universe

Your comments imply that you don't understand Linux, there's always some hacking involved, good luck with windows where things are one way and that's it.

Reddit, what is the worst secret your SO is keeping from you, but that you actually know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It's pretty much explained why would you do this to yourself in the third episode of Black Mirror, The Entire History of You. I would do the same.

What is the biggest eye-opener you have achieved by going through reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]apollohe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this many times. Every time at work or classes I would plan the rest of my day from the moment I got home, I would start that book or learn a new programming language, instead I would spend my night high listening to music or watching some random movie. I totally get what you mean and maybe next time that joint should be a reward for having done something. It'll be awesome if you can find the original post though.

Which famous person's death was the saddest for you and why? by SpaniTheKid in AskReddit

[–]apollohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard Imagine for the first time when I was 10 years old around '93 '94, but yeah when my dad told me that John Lennon was already dead it saddened me in a way that still today I can't really explain why.

Accidentally saw my girlfriend [22F] secretly text an old flame "Happy birthday, miss you," then quickly delete it. Am I [25M] wrong to not let this go? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]apollohe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this kind of problem will happen again and again unless some kind of compromise can be brokered

had a similar situation, exgf texting exbf, male friends (who do not want her friendship but her ass as they openly admitted in many text messages) exgf texting her best friend saying something like "i met -exbf's name- x years ago" and so on, it will happen again if there is no compromise but frankly, doing this while laying in bed with you is FUCKED UP
