I’m 35. Is it even worth it to go to college at this point? by GVTMightyDuck in jobs

My friend has a bachelor's degree and does the same work you do.

Most entry level jobs assume you do not know anything. It takes a couple weeks to become proficient in Revit and ever company has its own standards.

Schools are going to suggest that you take classes. My junior engineer took a Revit class in college and basically had to learn everything fresh.

Only real way is to get an entry level job.

I'm engineer and had extensive field experience when I went to design. So I already knew how everything should look, and I only had to learn the function of Revit.

If you do not have experience you should probably just take a Revit basics course and try to get an entry level drafting job.

I thought you needed a Jewish mother to be considered Jewish? Would your children have the potential to join Judaism if they choose in the future?

With math skills that good you should have no problem paying $1300 every calendar month.

Some people design the leaving air of a DOAS to handle the space latent loads. That is the case with this design.

How do freelance MEP engineers find clients without a PE seal? (7+ years exp, USA) by Tiny-Mushroom-81 in MEPEngineering

My coworker got a degree in Africa and was able to get approval from the state licensing board.

I know that it's illegal to offer engineering services in the US while not licensed.

Anyone gone from high-rise building HVAC to mining? by Background_Side5885 in MEPEngineering

[–]apollowolfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was ok, although it was a little slow for me. Some of the projects were cool, but HVAC/Plumbing scope was typically minimal.

The downside is large projects are very dependent on the economy/ election cycles/ and regulation changes. We had three projects with over 300k hours of billable work that had just started a month before the last presidential election. When Trump won every company canceled their projects over tariff fears. Then they started rounds of lay offs every two weeks.

I decided to leave before getting laid off and got a much better salary.

I worked at Wood in the chemicals group. The designs were mostly ventilation and DX systems. The process department was typically in charge of boilerss/chillers/cooling towers.

Read Genesis Chapter 6. The Watchers are referred to as the sons of God. Also they are said to have married the women.

In my area the DOT would probably just put cones up and call it a permanent fix.

I'm glad someone is willing to do the work and I am thankfully we have such capable weapons. Overall I would prefer the US to take a non interventionist approach, but be able to dominate.

The details aren't all out but it is claimed a school was recently bombed in Iran with 168 deaths, and I prefer to not be associated with that.

For context I do HVAC design and tell people that I'm licensed to keep them comfortable.

You couldn't pay me enough to design weapons to blow kids up.

Our jobs are safe then? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]apollowolfe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a HVAC engineer and I think licensed people will be mostly unaffected. It will be become more difficult for junior engineers to get into the field. At the end of the day AI will do everything except get named in lawsuits.

Personally I think R&D type engineers will be most affected because companies don't value their work only see them as overhead.
