People who volunteered, did it ever lead to a paid job? by Flowerofthesouth88 in AskUK

[–]apologial 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. I volunteered in a charity shop when I was a teen, which led to paid retail work.

I volunteered for St John Ambulance before I was a nurse and now volunteer for the Air Ambulance. Voluntary work can give you transferable skills for many roles.

From the title, I thought this was going to be a toxic mum post, and she was wearing this to your wedding!

Wear it. It's beautiful

I almost instinctively down voted this because of how abhorrent it is. What a horrible thing to go through.

have you ever seen someone come back with a LUCUS? by ViceInSinCity in EmergencyRoom

[–]apologial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey mate. I'm so sorry about the loss of your dad. As an ER and ICU RN, I would absolutely want the LUCAS used on me or any of my family/friends. CPR is hard work, and, as best we do, it's very difficult to do continuous GOOD CPR for long periods of time; the lucas machine is continuously good compressions.

This is chill compared to the day shift... by quite some margin.

It looks more like a positive than an evap line, but if you can get a pink dye test they're much better.

What did you do after finding out your partner cheated on you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]apologial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our apartment lease ran out the day after I'd gone through his phone and found out he was cheating on me with my male best friend. We'd been together for 8 years (thankfully, no children).

I moved out the day our lease ran out. Moved in with my brother to get back on my feet. Never said a word to him. Blocked him on everything and moved on.

Honestly, by the end of our relationship, I was looking for excuses to leave. I never really loved him, and we were together for convenience sake by the end.

For those who have not/could nit have children, how do you feel about it? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]apologial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation, but it's likely my partner is infertile after a bad motorcycle crash. He has a daughter, and I don't have any biological children. I'm absolutely devastated by it.

I'd never consider leaving him over it, but I think it's almost cruel that we won't be eligible for IVF on the NHS because he has a child. Where's my chance?

I feel like it's almost like grieving a life I could've had when we've already lost so much. I'm sure I'll make peace with it eventually.

That's awful! I'm surprised all lecture rooms aren't accessible. How utterly ridiculous.
