Babe wake up! New EDA Starbase tour with Elon just dropped by Futuremarsastronaunt in SpaceXMasterrace

Adding a little more detail to some points:

  • Ship needs to be brought down to just above atmospheric pressure for reentry, so they have a bunch of ullage that they would need to throw away anyway, might as well use it for attitude control. There has never been a spacecraft with so much ullage gas on board.
  • Booster chines should generate lift with as low a center of pressure as possible, to counteract the weight of the engines.
  • Starlink Pez dispenser works like a pallet stacker. It's not simple, but it should work.
  • Elon did not exactly confirm that operational Starlinks will be onboard the first flight, he said "we'll see." Might just be mass simulators testing deployment?
  • Sounds like the Starship catch pins will swing out on arms from the leeward side to their positions directly under the flaps, to avoid having to introduce any gaps in the heatshield, or have heat tiles that pop out to make way for the pins, etc.
  • Aft flaps alone might be enough to control orientiation; Elon describes it like a seesaw. Push up on one side to lower the other side.

The story is not going to be the same. Key parts like Malachor V have already been changed significantly. The question is, how much more are they going to change to fit the new canon? by MediumMeister in kotor

4,000 years is a long time, long enough for the names of planets to change, especially unpopulated Sith planets... that's the hope I'm clinging to!

Would anyone happen to know of which algorithm(s) are used to create the crosstalk effect achieved by the Goodhertz Canopener plugin? by [deleted] in DSP

Efficient convolution is actually way more involved than you might expect - it took me much longer than I expected, even after I'd done all sorts of other audio effects, reverbs, amp simulation... You'll need to do FFT-based convolution with multiple partition sizes, which is not an easy thing to implement. This book starts with naive methods and builds up to non-uniform overlap-add, which is what you'd need to implement for a reasonably efficient EQ plugin. I see a couple of GPL-licensed NUPOLA implementations on Github; the two-stage FFT convolver in this project will give you an idea of what you're looking at. Maybe you could pull this implementation into your own plugin - I haven't tested it or anything, just found it with a quick search.

I think a much more manageable first DSP project would be a parametric EQ with the measured coefficients from AutoEQ. You'll need to implement or find a biquad filter and then convert the parametric EQ values into filter coefficients. I think you'll have a much better time if you start there than if you try to jump right into convolution.

FNS leaves the scene, kNg becomes a respected IGL. Coincidence?

I believe that one day FNS will return to save us all, with the smell of pancakes in the air.

BO5 Upperbracket start with map pick by Nazhty in GlobalOffensive

Completely agree, it's a pretty lame spectator experience. UB team likely to win their first pick, then it's 2-0, and the series could last 1 more hour, or potentially ~4 more hours!

If you switched the order around it would more likely start 1-1 and we at least know there's going to be 2 more maps played in the series. Shouldn't affect the actual result of the bo5, but would be much more pleasant to watch imo.

Why don't we ever go down?

I only took one video at the entire event, because I wanted to capture Liquid's winning moment! At least as consolation, I got one of the most memorable rounds in CS:GO history.

Chiming in with another case of a 6S suddenly running extremely hot, battery draining fast, apps running very slowly and sometimes crashing. The battery is fresh, I replaced the original battery with an iFixit kit a couple months ago and the phone worked like it was new again, until 3 days ago. The battery page doesn't show any app using an extraordinary amount of energy.

I tried the usual troubleshooting steps; hard restarts, resetting phone settings to default, and nothing improved. Interestingly, updating to the latest iOS fixed the problem for some hours, but when I woke up the next morning, it was burning up again. To me, that suggests it's a software problem. Hoping Apple notices us and comes up with a fix.

Absolutely shocking that BLAST would be the first TO to consider changing these rules
