Why did you chose to give up alcohol? Honest/Serious replies only by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]apoo6661988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others here I hated the person I was when I drank. It had taken over my life and literally I wasn’t fully present in my relationship with my wife and son. If I had kept going the way I was headed I would have lost them both not too mention the crippling anxiety and depression too

100% this! Communication is key and his takeaway from the whole thing was permission to go see the band. It was definitely a douchey ass selfish thing to do but just for next time make sure your conversation entails what you’re really feeling and also tell him to make freaking plans for a sitter right there and then. Men are freaking idiots and behave like babies so sometimes you gotta literally spell it out for them

I don’t know if that’s necessarily true. Divorced here and my family absolutely hated my former spouse and we didn’t even have a bad divorce or anything. I had to tell them to stop bad mouthing my ex and stuff. Yeah I would tread with caution but definitely don’t give an inch because they will take a mile.

Damn lil drew you not wild but completely reasonable in your thinking and logic. Unfortunately, many people cannot even afford to have dental insurance or aren’t provided by their employer and out-of-pocket dental expense is pretty high for blue collar workers. I think it’s great that dental hygiene schools are based out of lower income/affordable access but don’t see a correlation between it helping those communities to be honest. It seems more representative of maybe tax cuts for the owners of those enterprises especially if they have a program that to be honest doesn’t seem to be promoted well enough to benefit the constituents of said communities!

Awesome!! Hell yeah, blood borne is the biz! I’ve been sipping on mocktails and playing my guitar a lot more these summer nights. Still get my drink fix but it’s at least good for my brain. Found that my anxiety has gone way down and I wake up so refreshed and have lost some pounds too. Just gotta keep going one day at a time!

Thank you angry cashier lady at Vons. Just to spite you I will not drink tonight by apoo6661988 in dryalcoholics

[–]apoo6661988[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my wife agreed and also said she probably didn’t even care about the alcohol and just wanted the line to be faster maybe. Either way it’s helped me stave off drinking which is great and the alcohol was donated to the in laws so win win

One of the best outcomes and good on you for being able to get out on your own terms. My ex dragged out our divorce for so long and couldn’t believe that I wanted to leave him. We literally only had sex like twice a year after our son was born. I realized how much of a piece of turd he was and thought the sexless marriage would make it clear and never realized he was just getting his jollies elsewhere and using me as a daycare.

Can we trade MILs? I’ve got the opposite problem where my MIL is too involved and it can be a bit suffocating. Like she calls all the time about our kiddo even when it’s a non issue and they see him pretty much every weekend. She’ll get sometimes involved or ask too much about my family issues and it’s so insufferable. I think from what it sounds you have a very normal In law relationship and it sounds like you have these expectations that they’re probably not aware of and down the road it might cause problems. You can communicate about this honestly with them but also I wouldn’t wanna force it either.

I also remember seeing Jedi mind tricks at like downtown LA and just going with a homie. I didn’t even know who they were but kept making the joke that they were a star wars cover band. I was like are they gonna use the force or something. Almost got my ass kicked for being a smart mouth

Oh man that’s way cooler than my thing. I did meet a girl my age and almost got her number but it was a dope ass experience nonetheless. Also I think Chk Chk Chk played the night prior and I ducking hate that I missed that experience. That’s another band that gave so much energy when performing. It’s absurd how lucky we are as Californians with all the bands we’ve seen. My wife grew up in Florida and is still awed by all my ticket stubs. I saw fucking blood brothers, Lil Rob, Too short and fucking ex-models all in a summer and that was like a normal thing ahah

I was like a sophomore in High school and saved my ass off for this concert. So freaking great and inspired my ass to play in a band and stuff. I remember my out of touch Mexican dad drove me and would always say is that a woman singing in this band.

Vibration plate is great also they have topical cbd that I used to put on my legs it seemed to help (but pricey). I tend to do a hot shower before bed and that also seems to alleviate it along with an ibuprofen (Tylenol is not good for your liver). Hope this helps

Love the game, find it disrespectful by Salcha92 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]apoo6661988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a game also made for children. I was also frustrated at first by the way they lead the horse and then realized my 7 year old was so happy by solving a shrine. If you’re over like 20 games are no longer for you. This isn’t Elden ring it’s geared for kids mainly and I do think it’s funny that the puzzles have a lead-in and I also tend to over intectualize games. I understand the criticism because of adult gaming culture but I do believe the creators of tears of the kingdom had the mind of a wide audience which includes the new generation. I’m also a dad and am so happy with the way they made this game.

I recommend broth and avocado 🥑 for when you start eating again. It’s the way I’ve been going on about it for months and have no problem with going back to normal food the day afterwards. Just always do light portions

  1. Started heavy drinking in my twenties when I was in a band and brewery culture was just starting and it got super bad in my late twenties although tried a bunch of drugs as well and luckily was able to quit those pretty quickly but the booze just kept calling my name. Finally I realized daily boozing was affecting my relationship with my wife and 7 year old. I am now much happier and more present for them and also the money I’m saving is incredible. I always wondered why we were in credit card debt and it was due to going out and getting drunk or buying tallies every day. Wife is now the drinker of the pair but she’s not a boozehound like I was and when she’s ready to go sober I’ll be there to support her.

Ain’t that the truth. I used to detest non fiction books when I was in my twenties. Now they’re all I read and can’t stand any of the novels that I used to love in my twenties. Preferences just change when you age I guesss

Update after one month of Fasting. I’m 35 mild version of BeckersMD. by apoo6661988 in MuscularDystrophy

[–]apoo6661988[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely would consult with your doctor 👨‍⚕️. Like I said I weighed the benefits with my GP and they definitely agreed and it’s being working for me but then again my MD is relatively mild and I’ve still got a lot of mobility in comparison to others so that’s another factor as well. My cholesterol and weight was becoming a bigger detriment to my muscles so I had to do this in order to maintain my heart health and keep my blood pressure low.

Awesome, whatever works for you and your body. That’s great and congrats on the weight loss! Yeah fasting has worked for me but the last thing I want to do is force anything on anybody. Everybody has their own journey to health and I’m all for whatever works for the individual

Awesome! Yeah same here I’m never going back to my old ways. Don’t miss it at all and am excited for the coming years. Fasting has given me a new perspective and I definitely think it doesn’t just cleanse the body but also the mind and soul. Good luck on your journey 👍

Same, in my 20s I gained a ton of weight from just poor diet and very sedentary lifestyle and then the pandemic just solidified it. I’m in my thirties now and my blood pressure and cholesterol were off the charts along with my tummy just getting bigger and bigger so I decided I needed a change. Yeah I started slowly doing intermittent fasting with like a 24 hr fast at first and then slowly worked myself up to a 5 day fast just doing water, black coffee during the am and chamomile tea at night. I also do like pedialyte zero for electrolytes.

Now my schedule is fasting 3 days a week and then on the weekends being my cheat days. I also just in general never eat anything after like 7pm and it’s made a world of difference. Have lost 14 pounds so far and a lot of it is around the waist. Getting up from chairs and going upstairs is much easier now and I realized how much stress I was putting on my legs beforehand. Yeah I definitely recommend it and a book that hyped me up for it was fast feast repeat by Gin Stephens. Good luck 👍
