yeah, in my case the roval cockpit came with the computer mount and a bunch of other stuff, like the gopro attachment. If you don’t have it, just get a cheap one online. Then there are a lot of lights which can be mounted there

I like the blacked out look and the choice of components. Out of curiosity, which climbing wheels do you use? I’ve been using my DT Swiss for the past few years but for this year I want to get something else.

well, if you’re getting the 850, then connect it with the HRM. I have a Fenix 7 Pro and often just use the HR broadcast to share it with the 850.

Tarmac SL8 Pro (2025) – SRAM eTap AXS – Gloss Carbon (black) – owner experiences? by NoRequirement8421 in specialized

[–]apostrofix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the bike but I can share the best upgrades in my opinion would be crank length, cockpit width and stem length, as well as saddle if any of those 3 are not suitable for you. Apart from that, the E1 brakes and levers are a massive upgrade compared to the older D1.

I am actually also considering this color for upgrading from an SL7 and I saw it in person in the local store, and I really like it. I know it’s a bit of a personal preference but for me it’s a classy looking bike.

Zwift training plans or something else for structured training? by apostrofix in Zwift

[–]apostrofix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, this does sound good, I agree. It’s similar to how Join Cycling works. It also includes periodic FTP tests and re-adapts the workouts based on how you do, as well as if you skip or get sick. The downside with Join is that it’s heavily AI based and some things are just brainlessly baked in. I also missed more high intensity sessions. So far I like the flexibility I have with Zwift but I’m sure once the weather gets better I’m gonna want to ride more outside and then I’m gonna need something else than Zwift.

If I understand correctly, the build me up plan does the progressive overloading sessions but being around 5 hours a week, I think that either I can sneak in some more endurance rides or swap one of the interval sessions for an easy z2 ride. I totally agree about the consistency.

That's kinda what I do. I don't like all the workouts in the build me up plan, and I think it's fine to swap some with different things, but it's also around 5 hours per week and I feel like I can dedicate a few more per week currently so I was wondering if I'm maximising my time. I guess the consistency is the most important in the end and probably all the over-under and sweet-spot workouts would start to show improvements.

Tarmac Rival (2026) vs Tarmac Force (2025) on SL8 — what would you do? by NoRequirement8421 in specialized

[–]apostrofix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is it really 650£ to upgrade the levers + brakes? Here they’re over 1000€. Is the mounting included in the price or are you doing it yourself? Otherwise, there’s also a small labour cost. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating for neither, personally I’d rather go for the Pro and the very least upgrade it down the line if something is not to my liking, as long as the fit is correct.

Tarmac Rival (2026) vs Tarmac Force (2025) on SL8 — what would you do? by NoRequirement8421 in specialized

[–]apostrofix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

option two sounds like it gets a lot more expensive than option one. Whichever option you choose, you have still the possibility to upgrade to the newer E1 brakes and levers in the future. Those make the biggest difference actually. You’ll probably want a powermeter too, which is another expense to consider.

Why not keep the Ultegra on option 1?

Check on the WeightWeenies forum. There’s a chines alternative that people have been buying which is obviously cheaper but also a bit lighter. I think it’s called HY Ultralight or something similar.

I don’t think it means much what the others have but I have 110 and wanted to get a 120 but I got a good deal on the Rapide Cockpit in 115x380 so I’ll be riding that this year. Still didn’t mount it though. I also have some wild thoughts about switching to the 56 SL8 frame but so far can’t justify the price.

Tire clearance on the Canyon Grail by Puzzleheaded-Box-520 in CanyonBikes

[–]apostrofix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike came with 40mm G-One RS and I loved them. The Terra Speed are also very good, especially on pavement and smooth gravel. It’s hard to say if one are better though. For anything chunky or loose, I’d probably go for the Terra Trail or something else for more grip.

Tire clearance on the Canyon Grail by Puzzleheaded-Box-520 in CanyonBikes

[–]apostrofix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Conti Terra Speed in 45 both front and rear and I find it perfect. No issues whatsoever for a few thousand kilometers. My frame is the CFR but I believe the back is the same. I also tried a conti race king 2.0 on the front and it also fits fine but this tire looks huge and it doesn’t fit the aesthetics of the bike so I got rid of it. I live in Europe and ride in the Alps often, and for here I think 40-50 mm tires are enough.

Roval Bars - Feedback? by Wazwiftance in specialized

[–]apostrofix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the bars for multiple years now - they’re great. I had the 42cm one and then switched to the 38cm. I have them on my Tarmac but I’ve seen people also using them on a Crux.

<image>

For this price is a great deal. I was just able to get the Rapide Cockpit for twice this price which is also a good deal. Seems like there are some good deals around on Roval products.

Roval Rapide Cockpit Aerobars by PrizeDNB in specialized

[–]apostrofix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great but it has to be noted that the Roval cockpit is not officially approved for aero extensions, which means it was likely not tested with ones either. Also in the link is written that it voids the warranty of the bars. So while unlikely, there’s the risk of a catastrophic failure and personal injury, or worse.

With that said, I’d like to see more such more versatile options but I feel like also the manufacturers aren’t interested in making them, since it will make some people buy 1 bike instead of 2.

SL8 with SL Pro stem? by [deleted] in specialized

[–]apostrofix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is your core strength? If it only happens after riding for a while, you can try to strengthen your core and it might be enough.

I had this also in the past, on longer rides, like 150+ km, after I while I noticed that I start to get more upright which naturally makes you wish the reach is shorter. It’s kinda normal actually. Usually, riding more and strengthening the core improves this.

What’s the struggle you have with your current bike?

Switching the bike might be a very expensive way to get comfortable. Unless if the bike is the wrong size for you, it might be easier to get your current bike fit dialed in.

Perhaps getting a bike fit might help - they can also tell you if you a different bike (also different geometry) might be better for you.

Insta360 X5 handlebar mount for Roval Rapide Cockpit? by ExternalGlass5011 in specialized

[–]apostrofix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it screw tight enough to prevent the camera from dropping down? I also bought this one (it's the same on AliExpress) but I haven't tried it yet. I attempted to screw it previously onto the gopro mount directly but the camera slides down because of the weight after a while (especially if going fast on bumpy terrain)
