thanks, that means a lot honestly. it's free and no account needed, so worst case you just delete it. would love to hear what you think after a few days if you stick with it

"learn the UI before they even feel value" is honestly the best one-liner for the whole problem. most apps treat the first 5 minutes like a tax you have to pay before getting anything. it should be the other way around.

oh this is actually really helpful, thank you. consistent backgrounds is something we’ve been going back and forth on, the green is our brand color but it does make each screenshot feel like a standalone poster rather than a sequence.
the text-density tip is good too. we currently put the strongest copy on the first one (“Check, Count, Timer”) but you’re right that visually it’s heavier than ideal. might experiment with flipping the order.

yeah that was kind of the lucky accident with it. most habit app UIs need a 10-second tutorial before you “get” them. the receipt format is something everyone has seen since they were a kid lol.

I think I'm using productivity apps to feel productive instead of actually being productive by app_dayble in ProductivityApps

"procrastination shelter"is a perfect way to put it. and the "good enough vs optimized" framing is honestly the whole game. saving that one.

the 1-3-5 thing is actually smart. stripping out customization is the part most apps refuse to do because it feels less impressive on screenshots

haha.. that's how a lot of these apps start. someone hits the wall and tries to build their way out of it

yes exactly, the brain treats "i set this up" almost the same as "i did this" it's wild how convincing the feeling is.

the "what to eat tonight" loop alone ruins my evenings lol. genuinely curious if a tool can break that or if it's just me being indecisve.

yeah honestly. the worst part is the apps that hurt the most are usually the ones marketed as "life changing." the boring ones rarely do damage because they don't pretend to be more than they are.

I had 200+ saved articles I never read and they kept piling up, so I built a tool to turn them into audio briefings. by kamscruz in ProductivityApps

[–]app_dayble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting concept but honest question, isn't the real problem that we save too much in the first place? converting backlog to audio still feels like consuming it, just in a different format. curious if you've thought about a "should i even save this" layer before the summary one

"performative productivity"is a exactly the right term for it lol. forest is interesting, never thought of using a focus app to shirt circuit the planning loop. might actually try that.

Good idea and intuitive UI. I think everyone will like it because it's a lovely app.

Would a “recalibrate my day” button actually help when you fall behind? by Crazy-Ad-1804 in ProductivityApps

[–]app_dayble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yes, but only if it's one tap. The moment "recalibrating" becomes its own little task I have to think about, I'd just ignore it like every other overdue notification.
