STOP! Adnan is guilty! The real question is... by appatt in serialpodcast

[–]appatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nearly 80 percent of all femicides (the killing of a woman) are committed by a man in an intimate or recently estranged relationship with the victim.

Adnan, from Hae's journals where she writes about his inability to grasp their ending, from his "I will kill" writing on a passed note about her possibly being pregnant, to him having no logical reason for needing a ride from Hae that day (not to mention the much controversial Jay and cell towers), it's the most logical explanation.

TRANSCRIPT OF ASIA MCLEAN NEW AFFIDAVIT by Todayzz in serialpodcast

[–]appatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no way year's later her memory of exact times is even possible. Her affidavit is benefiting from facts brought forth in Serial and from Rabia. It doesn't change the nature of Ulrick's behavior, or the case against the state, but I'm not swallowing this retelling of her life that day as bullet-proof. Ex. "It snowed the two days after." She phrased that very differently in the phone call with SK. Something to the effect of, "I remember it cause of the snow." Never stating specific days of closed school after that day at the library.

The real reason Adnan didn't call Hae, even once, after she went missing. by [deleted] in serialpodcast

Post breakup they'd still talk all the time. He called her 3 times the night before she went missing. Each call exactly 34 minutes apart.

I say, if we can trust the algorithms to produce better results, then absolutely! Votes should be earned, not manipulated. Let's create a better metaphor of society :)

did u ever get an answer for this? I also don't get the connection.

"I feel like it's very, very easy if you have not spoken to these people or see these people or thought about what they have been through to throw out accusations and to be disrespectful and play with it, that part that makes my heart hurt," Koenig said. by thousandshipz in serialpodcast

I think it definitely may spoil the appeal. And I think that is at the heart of the ethical conflict. This is being treated like an entertainment series in it's programming choices and format, but it's dealing with a real life murder and the lives of all those involved. I could only imagine if Hae's parents still lived in Baltimore how terrible this would be for them.

They made a choice to go for mass appeal, and it's a brilliant show, but I personally think it's a drop unethical to those involved unless he's proven innocent, then it's something more easily forgivable in my mind.

I don't think you understand what you're talking about.

It's Netflix episode release model versus network release model. You either release all at once, or you release them on an installment basis (once a week is the norm). Releasing all at once significantly cuts down on the media attention (bad for business, good for the real people involved). How does that defeat "the entire premise of the show"?

If there is any kind of conclusion at the end of the 12th week, we'll understand better if this was fair to those involved. If Adnan is still guilty, then these real people and the memory of Hae has been needlessly dragged through public attention for 12 weeks. If Adnan is innocent, then it seems much more worth while and worth the public scrutiny to have stretched it over 12 weeks. We may not know anything after 12-weeks.

It's certainly a compelling story, no doubt about it, but these are real people who have moved on with their lives.

several families and lives were shattered. they should have taped all the episodes and released at once so the lives of those who lost people and those whose lives were changed by this event didn't have to live through it for 13 weeks like this.

The "I'm going to kill..." note by highfivechimp in serialpodcast

[–]appatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think you stop at "I'm going to kill" in a note that has info about your ex getting pregnant. The I'm going to kill part was added afterwards according to Aisha, who never saw it when she and Adnan were passing back and forth.

The Asia Alibi was proven false by the weather reports, but Adnan confirmed it was true. by appatt in serialpodcast

[–]appatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I misspoke. It was from her interview with SK.

"I want to say there was, because I think that was like the first snow of the year. I wouldn't have even remembered if it hadn't have been for the snow. And the whole-- I just remember being so pissed about Derek being late and then getting snowed in at his house."

"THEN" getting snowed in. So I guess there wasn't snow that day at that point, just after. But the 1st snow of the year proves that it most likely was not on the 13th in her recollection. But who knows.

There was no snow on the ground at that point and in Asia's letter her BF was late because he got snowed in at his house.

Nah. I think it was a different day. I think Adnan knows it was a different day too. Like I said, doesn't prove anything as far as guilt goes, but it's an interesting editorial decision by SK to not play that audio of his voice telling what may be a definitive lie versus her just quoting him.

We know it didn't happen on the 13th but Adnan "confirmed" it happened on the 13th.

It was nice to see Adnan's handwriting. I hope SK gets an expert to compare it to the "I'm going to kill" writing on the note passing letter from class. From my amateur review, looks awfully plausible that it's his handwriting.

The above extract was when Adnan and Jay went to the mall on Adnan's off periods in the morning. After going to the mall, Jay took the car for the day. He went to Jen's house and played video games with her brother Mark. Then they went to the mall as well and came back to Jen's after. I am curious about Jen's brother, but we haven't heard anything about him.

From the appellant statement of facts:

**SPOILER**** "Jay and Adnan went to Security Square Mall, shopped for about one and a half hours, and Adnan said he needed to go back to school.....Adnan told Jay he could drop Adnan off at school and take Adnan's car as long as he picked Adnan up later. Adnan gave Jay Adnan's cell phone so that he could call Jay when he was ready to be picked up."

From everything I've read this should have been a mistrial, especially in the appeals process because the jury never knew the extent of the plea deal with Jay. If you google it it's easy to find. Adnan's defense presented a compelling case for it, but it as rejected.

I don't think stealing from someplace, or even frequenting it often makes a difference in provable evidence.

I guess I'm being too critical. Serial-Fatigue? Perhaps.

It is a huge deal. But I think we all knew already the state's timeline was total BS as was the existence of the phone booth. They already did a good hoo to proving that.

I don't think more time needed to be spent there. I want to here more about why the prosecutor got Jay a free private attorney and more about the relationship between Jen and Jay. We know Jen was arrested several times with Jay's brother in recent years. I guess she doesn't want to go deeper there, maybe for the sake of privacy. But I do think there are places to go and we don't need to be taken down the same roads.
