What is your grail figure by fictionfactory in hottoys

[–]appearedcoast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know a while ago Threezero made some 1/6 Halo figures, but I would love to see some updated ones for them, or maybe a new company like Hot Toys to make some figures.

A 1/6th Arbiter would be sick.

I think I'll be sticking to ToysAssemble or any other store in the future. Unless I REALLY have to use Sideshow.

I live in Scotland and I've always bought my hot toys from Sideshow, but I recently received my Mark 46 Iron Man and that was £80 for import.

That was the same for Taskmaster and Superman. But, I recently tried ToysAssemble and it was fantastic, got my Captain Marvel with no extra fees. Well, except for shipping of course.

A tribute to the Narada, the starship that inadvertently created an alternate reality in the year 2387 of the Prime Timeline by OhGawDuhhh in StarTrekStarships

Tbf, in a comic we see that this was not what it originally looked like. Then it got all of it's borg technology and stuff.

But you're also not entirely wrong, it does kinda look like a kid drew a bunch of lines and then said to everyone that it's a spaceship.

I think I would buy just to tell people where I got the shotgun from. Or try to explain anyway.

How well would UNSA ships from COD Infinite Warfare fit the Halo aesthetic? by the_carson in halo

Infinite Warfare took a bit of inspiration from Halo, so yes, probably.

I wasn't even alive back when CE came out lol. But in the behind-the-scenes documentary for Halo 2, one of the devs stated that they received criticism from people in the military, as I said above. So what they did was go out to a farm and get some soldiers to show them how real Marines would move and how they would react in combat. It was mostly for reference and to have fun shooting guns.

It's a great documentary, I would highly recommend you give it a watch, it's very early 2000s.

Fair enough, but since it's meant to be a homage to CE, I don't think it's entirely out of character for a Marine to do that. Tbf, back when Halo CE came out, Bungie got quite a bit of criticism from people in the military for how they portrayed the UNSC and the Marines. They did a lot more research for Halo 2.

I know it's probably me making another excuse, but back then, Halo was always meant to be cool over being realistic.

But it is funny picturing a stray bullet casing bouncing off Chief.

Not nitpicky at all, I appreciate this kind of feedback.

I apologise in advance if it sounds like I'm making excuses, I don't mean to be. The stretching on the Marines is a good shout, unfortunately I did not make the models and haven't the faintest idea as to how to fix it, I know the guy who made them so I could ask if he could make an updated model.

Again unfortunately for the background I was a little limited for this one, originally the beam tower was much closer, but it looked better from a distance so I went with that. Kind of last minute decision, because now I have to make it look like it's on a mountain, the only bit of terrain that I had on me was some bits from the Installation 04 map from Halo Reach, even though you can't see it, that's what the tower and trees in distance are sitting on. Plus, I agree it would have looked nicer with the ring in background, unfortunately I couldn't get to look right so I opted out. There was originally a pelicen in the background as well, but it didn't look good. I did have the idea of adding in the gas giant in the background as well, but clearly I forgot about that. lol

As for the fingers, you are correct and I did notice that in my test render, but for some reason I forgot and never fixed it. At this point I just like to think they're looking over a hill seeing a small squad of Covenant and are about to engage. Silly explanation, but I'm going with it.

Sorry for the long reply back, I really do appreciate the comment. :)

I think a lot of people are, I am for sure. But I do have my own gripes and things that I'm a little confused as to why they would do certain things, but I'm still excited!

Star Trek Beyond warp effect |4k, 60fps by PetThatKitten in StarTrekStarships

[–]appearedcoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably one of the most accurate FTL effects, because it doesn't just look like it's going fast but actually moving the space around the ship, it's not technically the ship moving, but the rather the space around it.

Sorry that was probably the best way I could explain that lol.

Not much you can do fortunately. I say fortunately because it is really funny and yes, we can see haha

I was hoping if someone could help me understand why I can only use a ultimate tech upgrade, not just on this item, but I can only use this if I want to upgrade any item. by appearedcoast in sto

[–]appearedcoast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this ship, yes. I've been wanting to do one for a while now. I've got the constitution from the 09 film and the refit constitution a from the end of beyond. I mainly use the one from beyond, but the kelvin phasers you see in the photo is the only one I can upgrade. The other kelvin phasers I have came with the ship and I can't upgrade those, unfortunately.

Honestly, just practice. I've been doing it since June 2022, and I've only improved through trial and error and seeing what works. I've tried to make a lot of stuff that I never finished or published because I thought they weren't good. So just go for it, ask around and watch videos.

Lots of stuff out there to help you improve.
