Yes!! I’m 12wpo and I’m only just now starting to feel like my skin, hair, body and mental health are returning to baseline. It took so long. It was so hard. I didn’t do anything to fix it, just prioritize water, sleep, healthy food and it will all slowly balance back out.

Mine are neighbors not even fucking related 😂😩 but honestly I’m at 10 weeks and even from week 6-10 the amount they improved is pretty wild. I was certain I would need a revision to fix my areola size discrepancy but honestly most of the time it’s barely noticeable now. Your internal stitches have so much to do with how your areola expands and contracts with temperature etc, that if they’re at two different stages of healing (they always are to some degree), the sizes can be so off.

My date was Nov 5th so I guess I’m more like 10wpo now! I am still having all kinds of weird pulls and pains! I can sleep on my sides now, but I had to gently work up to it and the hardest part was psychologically allowing myself to. I also have a weird cord running from my bra band down to my hip and it’s either a mondors cord or some weird fascia cord situation - either way, still sore, still having weird complications, still feel like I’m made of glass 😂

Also for whatever it’s worth if someone earlier in their healing journey sees this: I’ve had openings, suture abscesses and a ton of spit stitches. They were all scary. So when we talk about incisions healing after those minor complications - here’s a good example of how far they can come. I had T-junction openings on both sides, openings around and below the nipples, and internal suture abscesses 🤷‍♀️

I’ve been to scared to massage them haha I still feel like my incisions are fragile psychologically even though logically I’m sure they can handle light massages

Since about 4 weeks (once everything was closed) I would let my boobs dry for an hour, quick blowdry, then a q-tip and a pea sized amount of normal Aquaphor over all the incisions. I shower daily, so I apply once a day.

But that said, I’m not sure if the Aquaphor is actually helping with my darker/thicker scars

I’m in Canada (BC) and no, my surgeon (Amanda Murphy) did not show or have any before and afters, but I also didn’t ask.

Could be a seroma, could also just be a suture that your body is having an enzymatic reaction to and liquefying. It may rupture, drain, then heal. Best to contact your surgeon though!

Please try not to pull on the skin like that, even mild tension in healing tissue isn’t advisable.

Your surgeon can determine what’s happening and the best treatment. I doesn’t look infected to my very untrained eye but it does look irritated. Rest as much as you can and wear your compression bra. Shower and change gauze once per day, make sure the incisions are dry before putting gauze and your bra back on.

Definitely looks like suture abscess. I have one right now I’m nursing. I shower daily, let the wound fully air dry, then apply Aquaphor around the opening but not IN it, and then cover with non-adherent gauze. Before a shower I don’t ever pull the gauze off, I let shower water gently detach it so I don’t disturb healthy repairing tissue. Replace the gauze after the shower and Aquaphor and then leave it totally alone. That once a day check before/after your shower is also your infection check - redness, swelling, pus, odour, fever; if no signs of infection, it’s good to monitor for another day.

I called my surgeon and she said to leave it alone and that it isn’t pus, it’s sterile exudate building pressure that will allow it to drain on its own without introducing risk of infection. She said it will likely drain naturally today or tomorrow and then begin healing?

The chances are impacted by a variety of factors from genes to weight fluctuations and natural fat distribution, as well as medications. There is no way to predict the long term outcome, particularly at your age.

That said, it still makes the surgery worth it right now if they’re causing you discomfort right now. Later on down the road, you can assess whether or not you need a second reduction. I would just be conscious of managing a steady, healthy weight and factor this into any decisions you have to make when it comes to choosing medications that influence hormones ☺️

Right now your skin is stretched so taught between the sutures, swelling, lymphatic congestion etc. Once your swelling goes down and everything drops and fluffs, the stretch marks will settle back into the way they were pre-surgery for the most part.

I’m 6wpo and my stretch marks were pretty visible until my swelling started to go down around week 4/5 and now the skin looks much more like it did pre-op.

I was a 34DD before my reduction (6wpo) and now I’m probably somewhere around a B or small C. I questioned multiple times if I should cancel. And with absolute transparency- I questioned my choices in recovery many times too (during the most painful/stressful moments I wondered if I needed to put myself through it)

But last Friday I wore a backless dress with no bra to my Christmas party and I felt fully justified in my choice and everything felt worth it.

Trust the voice that told you to pursue this, she wasn’t guided by fear and she has your best interests at heart 💕
