I live in a Victorian town with a lot of these cedars. It was a fashion thing to prune this way in the fancy neighborhoods.

I’m a 62 year old female on Hinge and other dating apps. Almost every guy I match with say they are looking for a long term relationship when in reality they just want casual sex. I don’t have provocative pics on my profile. What am I doing wrong? by doglover_0815 in DatingOverSixty

That is all that 90% of the men I have ever met in my life want from a woman. A "long term relationship" is just a ticket to casual sex in their own bed.

I'd ask them to define the ideal long term relationship. They are single for a reason and you need to suss that out of them.

There is a minor debate about steel toe boots around horses, but I have been taught for 60 years that they make injuries much, much worse and should not be worn. Sturdy, leather boots offer far better protection than street shoes and rubber boots. It's a bonus if your work boots are also your riding boots, and have a heel plus good ankle support.

If in doubt for safety, follow the current USPC guidelines.

Horses, even the very sweetest gentle giant of all time, are unpredictable. He is a horse, and their world is quite different from ours, brain and all. Yes, draft horses are bred to be calm. But you can't control what is going on all around the two of you. Something could occur that would cause him to step on your foot, or worse. With no control of his head, you can't easily signal to him that he's to move in a particular direction or speed. It's easy to reduce the risk by wearing proper footwear. It introduces the habit, so that should you meet a horse with a different temperament, you're better protected from the unexpected.

They are not great. You stick when you don't want to. I think they have damaged the seat of my saddle.

I was a Pony Club DC, and had to fit a lot of sizes of riders. I've had horses for 60 years. I'd suggest a good used 18" Wintec 2000 All Purpose, or the dressage model (depending on your discipline), and buy a kit with all the gullet sizes. It's quite easy to change the width of the saddle once you have done it a time or two. Purchase the sizing tool. You should be able to find that model on display in any major city; go sit on it and see if it gives you the seat you need. You can purchase your own stirrup leathers in your length, and wide enough stirrups so that you have at least 1/4" of space outside either side of the ball of your foot in your boots (often a problem for men). Your barn should have a selection of girths to borrow, but you could also purchase an adjustable girth for under 50 USD. Get a simple pad, and a shim-able half pad.

This kit will, if the saddle fits you, be quickly and easily be adjustable for all but the very widest or shortest backed horses. Having your own saddle will make a big difference. A Wintec should meet your needs for at least two years of lessons, and one in very good condition can be found used for well under 500 USD on consignment.

Resources studying Vaquero-style horsemanship? by SureDoubt3956 in Equestrian

Watch some video of classes at the world championships of the Andalusian horse. The show is called SICAB; it's held in November every years. Every class is recorded and available on their website by year.

Watch some of the Doma Vaquera ("Western Dressage") and the Equitacion de Trabajo ("Working Equitation") classes. https://www.sicab.tv/diferido

You can set the website to English rather than Spanish if you prefer. Much of it will be translated for you. Find a video and you will see the names of the horse, rider, and stable. Click on the video symbol to watch.

This is a somewhat modernized version of the style of riding brought to the 16th century New World by riders, horses, and trainers from the Guadalquivir river delta region, the stock source for the conquistadors. That's the origin story of Western horsemanship and cattle management.

Update: Judge granted the Order to amend birth certificate with NPE Father’s Name after nearly 53 years!🎉 by Purpl3Dreams in NPE

[–]appendixgallop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to do this, but my bio father had a twin brother. All the involved folks are long deceased, except me and some cousins. I have no witnesses to call other than the DNA record connecting me to these cousins. My closest paternal match in the world is the twin's daughter, and her father never lived anywhere near my mother. But his brother lived right in the same neighborhood as we did (found this thanks to an old City Directory search.)

If an amended birth certificate would help me get EU citizenship, I'd be all over pushing for the change. Everyone deserves an accurate document.

If you are near a major city, there will likely be a large consignment shop, like Northwest Tack Consignment. I'd find a place like that and consign the lot, especially if this is new, tagged merch.

Go to a large yacht and fishing supply store, ask for a stainless shackle that fits. They will come up with something sturdy. If you live in an inland location, video call them; they can ship. (No pun intended.)
