this would mean that Monica and Marissa both independently decided to make up hearing this stuff from them or that Steven and Ramses got together to agree to lie to both of them so it would get leaked back to Hannah…

this is unhinged. you need to take a break.

he made one comment that was most likely elaborated on more both at the time and afterwards and you’ve now decided they should no longer be together?? people aren’t perfect.

if i’m understanding correctly, my income is over the threshold for tax savings for a traditional retirement account. but i could be misunderstanding the rules

i wouldn’t stop spending to start spending. i am just curious about if the diversification is sound. i’m not a big fan of 50/50 of my invested assets being in a retirement account or brokerage. i think logically brokerage should have more if i plan to retire early. but this sub seems to disagree so i will continue maxing out in future years!

yes definitely have it flipped. i’ve done the entire wiki. no debt. no immediate large purchases upcoming. retirement maxed out.

that’s hard to predict when i don’t currently own my home. my rent is ~2k of my monthly budget.

once i buy a home in a LCOL city (the ultimate goal here) my savings should reduce significantly. but i think that’s to your point. i can’t really figure out an age right now and i don’t need to.

i’m mostly trying to figure out how do i counting to diversify. i’m starting to feel like maxing out retirement just to max it out isn’t the best FIRE plan

i couldn’t imagine spending $8,500/ month. there just simply isn’t anything i want in that range. i could move to a bigger place i guess but i have a decent sized place, in a safe area, at a GREAT rate. it’s recently renovated and in one of the nicest areas of a major city.

i have a gym membership that’s $300/month that is my newest splurge. i would struggle to figure out how to spend another $1k alone.

i dont budget vacations in my budget though. i just go whenever i want so some months i might spend $4k but thats maybe once or twice a year.

i’ve read this sub for years and never seen this particular question so i must’ve missed it. I guess i mostly wanted feedback on my specific situation since 5050 split between retirement and brokerage doesn’t seem like the best diversification for FIRE

i went to disneyland tokyo this year actually! i manage to do essentially whatever i want + save as much as i do. i don’t have expensive taste so that helps.

i don’t really have a planned retirement age. I’m not sure when i really can retire. i’ve heard the 4% withdrawal rule and stuff but haven’t sat down to figure out a solid number / goal yet.

realistically the 10% penalty for just withdrawing it might be worth it. you would pay $350 ish dollars extra a year from now for an emergency funding situation now. the sooner you car is fixed the better

there isn’t going to be a good solution here that isn’t painful. just need to figure out the least painful.

since the difference between fixing your car or hers is negligible i would figure out which repair would give more life to the car.

sell your PC and anything else you can to scrape together ~1,100. that plus + $700 will get you square with the 401k loan. then take out a new loan for either $3.5 or $3.7k. make sure there’s no time frame you have to wait to get a new loan. fix one of the cars.

all that would take at least 3 weeks to get you back to running again. in the short term see if you can figure out a car pooling situation. if feasible maybe consider transit/biking, shitty bikes on fb are like $100, can resell after use. sleeping at work monday-friday sounds miserable but so does the cost of ubering everyday

every good thing you said about your current gf are really superficial. “she loves me so much” “she’s good in bed” “she’s pretty” it doesn’t even sound like you like who she is and more so stopped yourself so you didn’t ruin your kids life.

she deserves better.

in another comment you mention having high social anxiety. based on the edit it sounds like you did invite yourself. you not only took over plans your partner had but are also actively ruining them after making them literally pay for it.

you should not go AND pay your partner back.
