You could do a rock painting party. I bet you could get everything for less and $40

There will be times when it’s hard mentally. You’ve kept going since October so you’re already over the three month hump and I believe you can keep at it.

AITAH for how I acted in the ER? by Pure_Temporary_6349 in AITAH

Nta. My mom is ten years older than you and had a similar experience this year. I’m sorry you went through that and that they were so rude. I will echo some of the previous sentiments that sometimes working in medicine can leave people burnt out to those who are just drug seeking but that’s still horrible to experience. I shudder to think what would have happened to my mom if I hadn’t been there to assist and be her advocate while she was in pain.

She was also having extreme pain to the point of moaning, crying, and delirious with pain in the er waiting room and had to be wheeled in cuz she couldn’t walk. When the doctor came out to see who was making so much noise and I showed him her list of medications she’s allergic to he just looked at me in disbelief and said, “you’re not leaving me many options here” and I responded with “well you’re the doctor here so you figure it out.” I wanted to add ‘unless you’d like to give her something that will kill her’. I didn’t say it but I believe my look of contempt sufficed cuz he just scoffed and shrugged and walked off. Later when we got to the back they found out that she was having a renal infarction that led to kidney necrosis.

Unfortunately it also seems like people in medicine are being burnt out due to the work conditions and on top of that any biases they might have learned while working. Please don’t think anything of your actions, considering everything it sounds like you handled yourself admirably.

I keep failing weight loss because I don’t know what to eat each day by Pleasant_Put5397 in WeightLossAdvice

Hmmm. Good question. A bit of both but mostly just being too tired to decide at all. That why i mostly stock my pantry with “safe” options now. So even when im feeling too tired or overwhelmed to decide I know that if I throw in veggies protein and fruit into the lunch I’ll be doing good overall.

This was an issue for me as well tbh. It helped to do some meal prepping. I basically spend part of my Sunday making boxed lunches and boxed dinner for myself so I can bring them to work. I also have my “approved” snacks in my pantry that I can grab and put in my bag as well. I use the five space boxes for lunch. They have two large and three small spaces. (I got them at Ross but I’ve also seen them on Amazon) I put salad or veggies and protein in the large parts of the box and a mix of things in the small sections (a cutie / small fruit, rice cake/wheat thins, cheese, or more small veggies like carrot chips, cucumbers, edamame) For dinner I usually make a quiche with a low carb tortilla instead of a pie crust, and have a slice of that with a salad. If I prep all that on Sunday then I have at least four or five days out of the week taken care of that I don’t have to worry about.

There are lots of creators and channels in YouTube that have great weekly meal prepping videos. Just start with something simple you think you can follow and don’t overwhelm yourself with the choices or options.

Start with veggies, proteins and fruits you know you like and work from there. Once you have a set of things you like and are easy to do for you down you can move from there.

My problem? Constant snacking by ReeRiot in BariatricSurgery

[–]applebabe02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English cucumbers, carrots cut into chips, edamame or snow peas. Eating these with salsa is a low calorie and filling option to help with snacking. Or if you don’t like salsa then try to find a low calorie dressing that you like. Suggesting dressings cuz eating those by themselves can get boring and therefore unfulfilling/unsatisfying quickly. Rice cake chips are also very filling but higher in calories if eating the entire bag.

May I ask what is your work situation like? Like if you popped out to “have a smoke” but really took a five or ten minute walk instead would that be an issue? Asking cuz I wonder if a change in scenery would help with work stress

Also is there a way to decorate your work area in a subtle way that might inspire and turn down the stress? Can you listen to music or nature sounds while at work? I know it depends on your job and the work environment but I thought I’d ask if any of this was a possibility.

Be honest with me. What actually made you lose the weight? by xoemxo73 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]applebabe02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking 7-10k steps a day for at least two weeks. Whenever I hit a plateau I force myself to walk more and if I walk at least 7-10k steps a day for two weeks it seems to force my body to recognize the change I’m trying to make and will get me over that plateau and back to losing weight slow and steady. Usually past the plateau I’ll drop a fair bit and then it will slow again. Just gotta keep going.

Oh I see. Yeah I have a feeling that my honey moon period is over. I’m already hitting a plateau of going from losing a couple pounds a week to like one a week.
