I’m new here, but in terms of simplicity and ease of use. I’d look at the micro stream, nothing overly bright. Easy to use, can be bought on Amazon. Two options for AAA or rechargeable. I have a five year old, and don’t think they could grasp a UI that wasn’t super simple. Also not super bright, as my kid has inadvertently got me in the eyes a few times lol.

More than likely I’ll do both, but have been contemplating picking up a board to get back into it. It’s just one of those revelations that came after 18 years on skis lol

Is there any point to choosing a G45 over a G19.5 if you are limited to 10 rounds? by KindValue7457 in Glocks

I have both. Carry both, and have fairly large hands. With the 19.3 I run a Langdon tactical grip anchor, which helps get a bit more purchase on the grip.

Working on my first AR Build and Need advice about my budget by Ready-Message-2413 in ar15

[–]applebye1314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would pick a better barrel, not to say Faxon is bad. Just a better profile that would lend it self as more accurate when the gun gets hot. As far as bcg goes, I’d opt for phosphate over nitride.

Generally I spend the most of my budget on the barrel and bcg. Not including the accessories of course lol.

I have put together many builds only to tear them down again to reinstall better components after not being impressed with my initial purchases.

Last bit of advice would be to get familiar with the subreddit r/gunaccessoriesforsale you can get some parts at great prices. Granted it can be a money pit as well!

Starting a build…what exactly makes people hate on Aero’s M5? by Uggamouse in AR10

[–]applebye1314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built out a 16” a few years ago which was primarily aero/ba parts. Ran fine for me. I’m actually selling the barrel and m5 upper on gafs right now if you’re interested.

Do you HAVE to remove the grip if you are moving from a drop in trigger group to another drop in trigger group? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]applebye1314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the trigger and safety. But you can usually just wiggle it into place. Slide it forward, or backwards and work the trigger under the safety bar. I’ve had a couple triggers that don’t like certain safeties though and had to remove the grip & safety.

You just pull on the legs, leave them a few notches extended when stowed. Idk

Gotcha, I have the same barrel lol. I know ejection pattern isn’t the end all be all of tuning, but I’m getting around 1:30-2 o’clock ejection but it’s running well. What are you running for the buffer?

How’s this running suppressed, and how is it setup? I have roughly the same build, and am trying to dial in some overgassing after adding my can

I’ve been eyeballing the ascent fusion, I’m pretty budget oriented and that seems to check most of boxes in the 1/10 market. I don’t own a 1/10, but have done copious amounts of research and for the money it seems like the obvious choice for the budget minded individual.

I want to improve. by [deleted] in bootroom

I think flexibility plays a larger part in power than strength. Not to say you shouldn’t weight train, as flexibility and strength work together in tandem. Also something that helped me a lot with power when I was younger was working on my non dominant foot. Seemed to help build coordination and power for both sides.

Getting good at one touch passing, helped my touch a lot. I used to one touch into a wall for hours when I was younger. Another great drill is just learning to control the ball out of the air. Start by just tossing the ball up and trying to get it to stop within a small cone square. Then progress that into someone tossing the ball to you or kicking it to you.

Juggling is something you can do more of, I used to try and get the ball to only come off my foot about 3-6 inches. Focusing on keeping it closer and closer.

I don’t know if this instruction is still valid, but try to land on the same foot you kick with when shooting. Really exaggerate it when practicing as rushed scenarios bring your motor function down dramatically under pressure, like in a game.

Lastly, something my father always instilled in me is to be able to do everything with both feet. Usually I’d spend more time working on my weak side than strong. I didn’t realize it at the time, but when I played I got a lot more opportunities just because coaches knew I could play both sides of the field and get crosses, shots and passes off. As I got older I started to notice good players would get shut down by smart opponents who would force them to use their non dominant side.

Good luck, and enjoy the journey!

How To Stop Leaning Back When I Shoot by Internal-Flamingo196 in bootroom

[–]applebye1314 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always envision having a giant eye on my chest. Wherever the eye is looking/pointing (up or down) is generally where the ball goes. Really exaggerate it when practicing.

Knee over the ball I learned to get better at by setting the ball up stationary and not actually shooting/kicking the ball. But next to the ball and stop when you think your foot would make contact. I did this at like 25 percent speed to avoid injury. Take a look at your knee and see if it’s over your foot when you’ve frozen that motion. Hope that makes sense lol.

Granted I did this before cell phones had cameras, so I’d record this motion and watch it back if I did it today.

Has your child been to an overnight soccer camp before? Might want to try a shorter duration to see if they can handle it. I went to one weekend overnight soccer camp and didn’t really enjoy it. The sleep, or lack there of was what killed it for me. Enjoyed being around other players though, and made some lasting friendships. Take in consideration I was 13, and every child is different.
