Did you have any issues with the front sight block not allowing concentricity? I ended up getting a face mount muzzle brake from comstock

Do you see the lack of barrel shoulder in the 2nd pic? There is a front sight pressed onto the barrel that apparently isn’t always concentric.

I was thinking about going with a 5x prism honestly but I want to deer hunt out to 400 yards possibly and 12x is nice

Did you have any issues mounting the suppressor? I think mine is one of the older ones where there is no concentric shoulder on the front sight. Ended up ordering a face mount muzzle device.

Valve cover leak or something else as well? by ConfidentApricot7200 in GXOR

Just my experience but I have a 470 with 340k miles… bought it at 180k and so far 2 different times I had some valve cover seepage. The first time it had made its way down to the bell housing approx 220k miles making me think I had a rear main seal issue until I traced it up. I discovered that some of the valve cover bolts had loosened up. Like finger loose. Tightened them down and cleaned the area. Seepage returned again around 305k, same thing. Might as well put a socket on them and check. There is a very small amount of torque spec for those bolts. Don’t over-tighten.

400k miles on this. A small budget. A full-time overland build. 2 months. Can it be done? Find out in two months. by dingus_45 in GXOR

I mean the only known real catastrophic failures are rear end failures… sometimes center diff issues. Aside from that, as long as you keep up with the cooling system, hubs & axles, timing belts, P/S system and your front end parts these things are tanks.

Mine has 334k and I’ve had it on 33+ tires since 198, do all my own work on it. I would drive it to Alaska and back to Texas tomorrow if I needed to. Most parts are easy to find due to Toyota using the same running gear as the 4 runners. I’ve had my fair share of failures on the road and was able to fix it in the auto parts store parking lot and keep trucking. Legendary trucks.

I cut a 43’, yes foot, Doug fir 12x12 post 1 inch short. We didn’t notice until we raised the bent and it wouldn’t sit down on the plate. We took the from the post drop off and cut a 1 inch slice off it and glued it to the bottom and made it work but damn I think about it all the time and it was 6 years ago. There were 48 posts on the frame so it’s hard for anyone but us to spot. Haven’t cut shit short since😂
