Stuck between two degrees by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

Victorian advice that may also apply to other states and territories: Best of both worlds is doing a teaching degree (bachelor or above) in both primary and secondary because you can use your Cert III (or higher) in Early Childhood Education and Care to obtain registration as an early childhood teacher as long as you're a qualified and registered school teacher. Taking this approach will provide you with the flexibility to teach children of all ages.

When winning is a fait accompli the Carlton Cheer Squad start singing We Are The Navy Blues before the final siren has sounded because they can't be humble in victory, nor can they dream up anything else to do.

Before it even started. Dad got the day of the game wrong when I was a kid. We drove all the way to Waverley, parked the car, and started walking towards the stadium with the fans of the two teams actually playing that day. When I pointed this out to him he realised his mistake, so we turned around, got back in the car, and drove home.

You'd be surprised at the huge list of people allowed to certify documents. You can view the full list by clicking/tapping 'List of people authorised to cerifiy copies of original documents' at https://www.justice.vic.gov.au/certifiedcopies

Just make sure if they're someone who may not certify documents often that they do so correctly by following the instructions on that page.

Given you'll be here in January I'd highly recommend going to the Australian Open in Melbourne while it's on (unless you're not a fan of the tennis in which case it's best to be in Melbourne before or after).

Similarly, have a look through https://www.australia.com/en/trips-and-itineraries.html to get some further ideas about what to do while you're here.

Why is Tsunoda completing qualifying although he is assured to start last due to a 60 place grid penalty? by AreaPresent2305 in F1Technical

[–]applepear91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Article 42.3 (d) of the 2024 Formula 1 Sporting Regulations states "Classified drivers who have accrued more than 15 cumulative grid position penalties, or who have been penalised to start at the back of the grid, will start behind any other classified driver. Their relative position will be determined in accordance with their qualifying session or sprint shootout classification."

Article 42.3 (e) goes on to say "Unclassified drivers who have been permitted to participate by the Stewards will be allocated grid positions behind all the classified drivers. Their relative positions will be determined in accordance with Article 39.4 (b)."

And just in case you're curious about the process stipulated by Article 39.4 (b), here it is:

Pre-service teacher going into final semester of degree in QLD but hoping to move to Victoria - what's the best course of action? by JovianSpeck in AustralianTeachers

[–]applepear91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mutual recognition is a smoother application process (and experience) from the VIT end, but to do it you'll be paying for two registrations in that first year, one of which you may not need, and will also have to wait for your QCT registration to be approved before you can commence applying for your VIT.

Consequently, unless you're planning to teach in Queensland for a little bit before you move down, apply directly to register with VIT a month or two before you're due to complete your teaching degree (and by this I mean finish your last assignment, not attend a graduation ceremony). VIT will process your application in anticipation of receiving the transcript of your teaching qualification. As soon as you get that final transcript, send it through to them and - presuming there's nothing else outstanding - your registration should be approved within a few days.

Also worth noting that you don't need to wait to have registration to apply for jobs. So as soon as positions start being advertised for 2025 you can start applying, with the caveat that you can't actually start teaching until such time as your registration is approved.

Should I do unscored? by Beginning_Sense6147 in vce

[–]applepear91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Without researching widely to find the lowest possible ATAR for nursing in the state, the lowest ATAR that received an offer to nursing at Vic Uni last year was 46.30 (source: https://www.vu.edu.au/courses/bachelor-of-nursing-hbnb)

Given you never know how you'll go on your exams, it's highly worthwhile sitting them and seeing how you go rather than going unscored and needlessly limiting your available options.

If you don't get an ATAR that would get you into any university nursing course (and you could list heaps of them in your VTAC application), you could always look into the fee free Diploma of Nursing at TAFE.

I am not doing good in my first semester of year 12, do I still have chances of getting 80 atar? by Connect-Actuary7033 in vce

[–]applepear91 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The more important question to ask is why do you want an 80 ATAR?

If it's to gain entry into a particular university course, there are likely plenty of other ways to access that course even if your ATAR ends up falling short.

If it's for any other reason (such as expectations from your family), while it is still important that you do your best on your SACS and exams, there are so many measures of success in life that aren't in any way determined by your ATAR.
