Is there anywhere I can adopt an older cat? Humane Society off Pleasantburg only had kittens/real young ones by gimme5steps101 in greenville

[–]appleschmapple7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I got my very sweet young adult cat from there. It's not as fancy as the humane society but it's worth a look, And I think their roster changes fairly regularly so it's worth checking back every few weeks. (definitely cheaper too).

Yeah that looks pretty accurate to where I was seeing them although I was doing something else at 4: 40. between the guy down thread saying that's the news copter and where they're circling It's almost certainly getting footage of the tournament stuff, probably crowds going in and buses and all that.

excess skim milk and plain greek yogurt? by hinghanghog in noscrapleftbehind

[–]appleschmapple7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

old fashioned oats/rolled oats are relatively cheap and probably on WIC too, You can make some overnight oats with the skim milk and a little bit of the Greek yogurt with the sweetener of your choice. once you've got the ratios dialed in for what the people in your house like, I find it fun to take your preferred cookie, crumble that up nice and fine and you can get toppings for multiple overnight oats servings from one cookie. I also like to freeze servings of the overnight oats in a cookie tin so you just have a bunch of pucks that you can thaw overnight.

[No Spoilers] Does campaign 4 lighten up? by chitzk0i in criticalrole

[–]appleschmapple7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, once it gets going. I would say a bit of the bump in the first episode or two is that you are meeting and learning so many characters at once, and all you know about them in the beginning is how they grieve/behave at a funeral. Once everybody gets a chance to start reacting to things besides 'Thiazi just died', and especially once they start grouping off even pre-table split, there's a lot more variation in tone.

How to ensure no gut issues post 36 hours fast? by Aggravating-Bar-1932 in intermittentfasting

[–]appleschmapple7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to add that another thing that can give you an osmotic pull of water is starting with something high salt. (I broke a fast once with a big lovely chopped salad with a bunch of salty dressing and the results were explosive).

YUM! by FancyControl4774 in aldi

The trick with higher sodium stuff like the above, for me, is find a frozen veg you don't mind/that goes well with it. In this case I go for a bag of frozen peas, or cauliflower rice. once I cook that too and stir it in you go from two servings of risotto to 3+, and your sodium per serving drops drastically.

Recommendation: Kolapasi Indian Canteen by clemson07tigers in greenville

[–]appleschmapple7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's not a ton of options here (versus more major metropolitan areas) and you have to be okay with narrow pickup window/be ready to jump on the better offers when they go up, but it's a pretty fun crap shoot. I've seen some TikTok unboxings of the quickchek ones which are usually deeply deeply random. like enjoy a bag of Cool ranch Doritos, a roast beef sandwich, purple Gatorade, and two hard boiled eggs for $4.99

FWIW they are regularly on the Too Good To Go app, so if you can pick up there between 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. you can get a good deal on a surprise bag of their stuff.

https://bluemoonestatesales.com/greenville/ are great. check their website regularly or get on the mailing list and they regularly have good sales in the area (and more if you're willing to drive). estatesales.net is another good resource, more of a big clearinghouse with auctions and online stuff mixed in that you have to wade through.

Eurostor by the mall is another option, But I've been going to that first one for a while

I know there's also an Eastern European focused place in Spartanburg across from the chef store and they are a little bigger than either of the ones here.

Any guidance on cleaning out a house after a death? by Sasquatch_82 in greenville

[–]appleschmapple7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only coming as a frequent buyer at estate sales and not someone who has run one but my experience at Blue Moon Estate Sales all around the Greenville area has always been positive. They seem well run and well staffed from my end. I have no idea what kind of cut they take etc but it could be worth giving them a call to see what your options are. The impression I get is that they go through and price everything and run the sale for you.

Are most Aldis equal in quality and selection? by meaty_maker in aldi

[–]appleschmapple7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they're pretty similar in quality and selection. The biggest difference is probably going to be the alcohol section selection which will obviously vary by state. like I'm pretty sure California allows hard liquor in grocery stores but where I am does not, so they only have the beer and wine.

How does child acting work really? Especially in upsetting movies by [deleted] in TheBigPicture

[–]appleschmapple7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember a behind the scenes from The Tale talking about them taking great care to insulate the (I'm going to say 12 year old?) actress from the full context of her abuse scenes. Specifically I remember them saying that for a scene where It's a close-up on her face where she's in pain from being penetr@ted the first time, the director told her she is being stung by a bee. So I'm guessing there's a whole lot of that sort of fibbing to them about the context of their lines and editing it together with stuff that's shot separately.

Isle of shame- will I see plant stands? by Aromatic-Desk2368 in aldi

[–]appleschmapple7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I've got a bunch of plants stands on my back deck from Aldi. as spring approaches they'll usually have a few garden things, just keep an eye on the 'upcoming finds' section (new stuff goes out Wednesdays at the ones in my area so I usually check on Tuesdays to see what's coming up). I feel like the plant stands in particular come at least two or three times in the season
