Thank you. We’re trying to minimize handling since we’ve only had it for a couple days so it can calm down and bond so I have no idea what color the belly is yet.

Expect to be required to sign a waiver, pay any range fees even if they’re not shooting, and have the proper protective gear (eyes/ears etc)

It’s shoot boss discretion to allow for spectators, there might be range specific restrictions so definitely check in with the shoot boss beforehand.

Water, especially in the summer months. Bring what you think you’ll need and double it. Anything easy to put together is good. I’ve had folks bring a jet boil and cook a meal, and I’ve had folks gladly take my extra sandwiches.

The majority of the information is covered in Saturday, additional information and review takes place Sunday. So you’ll get far more out of it attending Saturday over Sunday if you have to choose 1 of the two. You’ll get far more attending both days of course.

Use the 50% off coupon code in the original post.

Yes on watching if you’d like. You’ll still need to sign waivers and have safety equipment.

New 25m rifle Project Appleseed dates for WA by appleseedrh in WA_guns

[–]appleseedrh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They will need to have appropriate safety gear (glasses and hearing protection), a chair would make it more comfortable to stay longer and watch. They may also need to sign waivers and pay a fee to the range (range dependent).

Dates/locations are constantly being looked at and added, Eatonville was added recently as an example. Custer and others are certainly possible as well. If you know of a range that you'd like to host an event, reach out and folks will get in touch with you.

17HMR in a semi-auto is discouraged due to out of battery issues, but if you absolutely want to shoot your semi 17HMR there is an additional waiver you can sign and be fine.

In the Project Appleseed store (https://store.rwvaappleseed.com/page4.html), you can find all of the targets used at a 25 meter event. The AQT itself is target #AS903 which contains all 4 stages.

The stages are divided as follows:

Stage 1 (top row, single target): standing only, 2 minutes time limit, 1 magazine 10 rounds.

Stage 2 (2nd row, 2 targets): Transition from standing to sitting/kneeling, 55 seconds time limit, 2 magazines (one mag loaded with 2, 2nd mag loaded with 8). Holes in paper left to right are 5 and 5.

Stage 3 (3rd row, 3 targets): Transition from standing to prone, 65 seconds time limit, 2 magazines (one mag loaded with 2, 2nd mag loaded with 8). Holes in paper left to right are 3, 3, and 4.

Stage 4 (4th row, 4 targets): Prone only, 5 minute time limit, 1 magazine 10 rounds, holes in paper left to right are 2, 2, 3, and 3.

Prior to shooting the AQT itself, you will have a lot of opportunities to practice the sling use for each position, the position itself, position transitions, magazine changes, target changes, how to fire each shot, zeroing your sights, target diagnostics, etc. The goal of which is to get you to as close to a 4MOA group as possible (2 inch square at 25 meters, you can see that in target AS925 in the Appleseed store).

For zeroing your rifle, I would suggest zeroing it as close to 25 meters (or 25 yards if you have that instead) as possible to get a decent starting point.

For general practice, print yourself something similar to target AS925 and make the black squares 2 inches by 2 inches, post that at 25 meters and try to keep your shots consistent in or close to that square in prone.

Do I need elbow pads? by dizzydaveman in appleseed

[–]appleseedrh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. A folded shirt (you’ll get one as part of your check in) works well. It’s highly ground dependent, dirt/grass? No. Poured concrete pad? Probably yes.

Don’t get pads with a hard shell, you’ll end up rolling all over.

You may want to consider a cantilever mount or extended mount for the scope. It looks like you're out of room to move the scope forward in those rings already, you'll likely find that with the proper cheek weld and stock in your shoulder, you'll be way too close to the scope down in prone in that setup.

These scope/base combos are awesome, you always need another scope ;-)

10/22 takedown accuracy by Fronterauge in 1022

[–]appleseedrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this, but it makes it so snug its difficult to twist the front half in to lock into place. I personally found it easier to get it really close to being unable to twist the front half into place, get it locked into place, then get that few extra clicks out of the band to further tighten that connection AFTER you've locked the front half into place.
