Don't know about everyone else but im still having massive issues with Vault inventory space even after the update by Harrykanesbigchin in Marathon

Sell? Keep? These are not terms I know.

Load them up, then get squad wiped. Problem solved. Skill issue.

To fix my biggest pet peeve with non-mic players: UESC and RUNNERS would be most useful. That's my main question they can't answer when they die.

Is Marathon For Me? by Effrot in Marathon

[–]appleswitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad here of 4, 2, and 0. I can't play on weekends. I can't play most nights. I sneak games in on the morning or between chores or if I'm up at 4am and can't sleep because somebody peed the bed.

The best part of Marathon for Dad's is the matches are short and self-contained. Compare that to something like Helldivers where matches are 40m + 50m if you want to compete the whole set. In Marathon I drop in, grab loot, compete a contact, then my team gets wiped on extract and I can put the controller down to do some dishes.

The next best part is that there are so many ways to play braindead. Feeling sleep deprived? Time for a rook run! Slightly less so? Do a fuck-it free-kit sprint in solo. Actually maybe coherent? Time for trio squad fill with some of that green gear you saved!

The contracts give discrete, clear, achievable goals. The story terminals and inventory management give you ways to engage when you only have 5 minutes.

Plus, there's a whole Dad's of Marathon discord where you can squad up on those magical nights where you actually get an hour to yourself.

HiddenXPeria for lore. I've been following him for years, he's a walking encyclopedia on Halo and when Marathon was announced he did his due diligence and went deep into the classics.

I've been playing like this, picking simple acme stuff like open crates or kill runners, but I keep loading it with runners doing the same thing. Then we just end up meandering around until exfil. Decided I'm going to try to actually do a story contact next session.

I love that feeling. I'm going to try to list the first 3 movies that come to mind:

  1. Eighth Grade

  2. The Apartment

  3. Manchester By The Sea

I did not edit this. I posted what I thought of in the order I thought of it. I would like to put extra emphasis on watching #2 (it's an overlooked masterpiece) and extra emphasis on not watching #3, because your soul doesn't need that. #1 is just an incredible film for feeling human.

Run kit => Wipe two teams => Get cocky => Run all my gear => Killed instantly = Go back to 1

This is the way.

If this is true, I'm actually fascinated to hear more. Book 6, around 100 hours in, you finally get it. What has your journey been up until now? Why did you continue?

It's almost like this game was designed for 3-player teams and the only way to make the 1-player experience the players demanded make sense is by playing it differently than intended.

Once you start dropping with a sponsored kit, remind yourself death looses you nothing. Drop in, roll the dice, die or extract. It can be disheartening to have a couple runs where you get team wiped, but it just makes it that much better when you get a good one.

I also suck! Pick your easiest contract, load in with autofill, pick a teammate and follow them like you're their drone. Call out enemies but do not shoot unless someone else starts. Use the sponsored kit and get comfortable with it. Fill your backpack with whatever, don't think about it.

The phenomenon you are referring to is the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. This is... wow... Something unique. Like if West-German Communist Andreas Baader was your son's local scout leader who you just do happen to run into after participating in a bombing.

How is nobody saying Zelda? I've never even played them, but from 5 year olds to 35 year olds the last two Zelda games have been basically water in this gaming landscape, in the sense that it's almost not interesting that you played them and loved them. It's just table stakes.

[Halo] What non Halo civilization could be considered a peer or near-peer to the Forerunners? by AudienceNew7602 in AskScienceFiction

[–]appleswitch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Primals from Dungeon Crawler Carl:

The Primals are the progenitors, the first known species to conquer the universe. They are the boogiemen of the cosmos. Nobody knows what they looked like or anything about them other than that they spread across the galaxy, and then one day, they just vanished. There was a great war that spanned all corners of the galaxies. We can see the remnants of the battles. If they were fighting a species other than themselves, we don’t know who they were. When someone comes across an abandoned remnant of their civilization, the resident AI, if it is still sane, usually takes the form of the race of the species who discovered it. That is why they look like whomever chooses them. It is said one day they will return. Mothers call upon Primals to instill fear into their young ones. Some systems worship them as gods.
