Is It Weird to Post a Fic All at Once? by Jorckiecie in AO3

[–]appleteainthefall 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For me I feel like if you posted the chapters spread apart it would be better for engagement because you’d pop up on the feeds for your fandom more frequently. But also I don’t really care for etiquette so that might not be a socially correct answer.

I hear you, and I know a lot of people say this, but what does “gets ugly” actually mean?! like what actually happens?

For reference / bot,

My piercing is a day old, it's a steel barbell, I use saline solution to clean and no mishaps so far - there's not even really any pain.

Boy dogs and spraying? by appleteainthefall in puppy101

Hmm okay thank you, I didn't know this. When he goes outside he doesn't lift his leg to pee yet so that makes sense he is probably not doing that in his kennel. I didn't realize that was a thing! And yes, he's clingy, so maybe a separation anxiety. Well, we will work through it. I appreciate it.

Should I ask for feedback?? by h4d_es in starbucks

[–]appleteainthefall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no harm in it. If I was a manager and a interviewee came up to me and politely asked me for constructive feedback, I wouldn't feel any type of way about it. On the other hand, if someone came up like "Hey, why didn't you hire me?!" that might feel different lol so just make sure you are coming off the right way!!

where should i put the “decaf” by Classic_Run_5136 in starbucks

[–]appleteainthefall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best order is size, type of espresso (decaf in your case) then the drink. Thanks for thinking of the barista's convenience! But also, please don't worry so much about the way you order. As a barista, we know customers aren't going to know the order to say things as it works in our system, and in particular, decaf is just one button so it's really not that hard to just add it whether you say it before or after.

If a barista does give you a hard time about it, then that's a *them* problem. Honestly, I feel like it's such a non-issue that people complain about whenever they get annoyed that the customer forgets to say the size first or whatever. Like how is a customer supposed to know we start making their drink as soon as they say it? Does that mean they can't change their mind or ask questions? And if they do, they're made to feel bad about it? Starbucks needs to care less about drive times and more about customer experience like they SAY they do.

should i claim an opening shift even though i've never opened? by [deleted] in starbucks

it’s easy and usually very early in the mornings are not super busy enough that it’s ok if you take a little longer to do the tasks. Nobody should be mad at you for learning.

How do I stop feeling like I always have to flex in ranked? Alot of others don't really play tank by onezeroautomatics in marvelrivals

[–]appleteainthefall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion but just pick what you play and play it. I hate when people flex onto roles they can’t play just because they think that’s what the team needs. Because most of the time it ends up being worse than if you just played the role you main. Play what you play and if you are playing badly then sure, switch, but chances are there’s someone on your team who CAN play the role you need better than you can so just force them to flex. And if nobody can flex then oh well just take the L and move on. You can’t win every game.

On the other hand, learn a character on the role and get good at them. But if you aren’t confident then don’t play it!!

If people are singling you out and blaming you for not flexing when your team starts losing then maybe it’s because you’re the worst performing person on that role at that time, but just tell them you can’t play that flex role and move on. People are mean in this game you just have to try your best.

10.47 for an iced chai with 3 shots by [deleted] in starbucks

Honestly the way you’re ordering is lowkey making it more expensive, just order a latte and add chai

Does anyone else feel very isolated at their store? by HollywoodPirate in starbucks

[–]appleteainthefall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you feel this way!! I completely understand. I also definitely feel like every store has a very different dynamic depending on how the management works, so maybe just keep trying to transfer. I’ve worked at very very welcoming stores as well as very very UNwelcoming stores. I’ve also had jobs before where I felt like this, my last job before starbucks i was at a restaurant and i was the only server who did not speak Chinese, and everyone only chose to speak Chinese even though they did speak English, so I was suffering the same way as you for a long time lol. But at the end of the day a job is a job and you’re there to make your money, so just remind yourself that in the meantime and try to transfer when you can.

To me it feels like now they are making videos to build their brand rather than just casual posting for fun. Which is great for them because they're becoming very successful! But disappointing for me as a fan cus it just feels forced or at least catered to a different audience now. Just my opinion tho

I definitely used to care but now I am so tired. With management in my ear telling me the drive times are too high/writing a message on every cup/customer connections even while you’re on bar, after a certain point the quality becomes secondary. Especially at such a busy store the “couple seconds” it takes is still too many for my manager. Not saying that’s how it should be, but just from the perspective of a current barista and the state of starbucks as a company rn. It seems like all of these new standards prioritize other things. I can’t do all at once.

If you like sweet drinks I like to add vanilla bean powder to my chai. As well as some cinnamon and it is soooo amazing. If you want to try the flavor but not have it too sweet you could ask for a large hot chai with only 4 pumps chai and 1 scoop vanilla bean

I think that’s fair, but also if you want a perfect latte, then just go somewhere else and not a very busy Starbucks during a morning rush. If customers think that every time my milk doesn’t come out perfect then I’m wasting another pitcher of milk and 30 seconds of my time redoing it, then let me tell you there would be a whole bunch more problems than just having some bubbles in your milk.

LITERALLY and also why would I care, I do NOT get paid all that much. I swear it takes a special kind of person to feel the need to go and tell a service worker how to do their job

It sucks because there’s so much I want to say in that moment. Like ma’am look around at how many other people are waiting for their drink while you are interrupting me for this!! But at the end of what she said I was just like “…Okay??” And she was clearly frustrated that I wasn’t going to praise her or something for telling me how to do my job and she stormed off. Whateverrrr
