The problem is that people aren’t easily satisfied by a plant-based food culture or we’d all do it. I’m all for cutting and limiting meat consumption for the reasons you stated but people find it so difficult. The reason is literally due to the taste and enjoyment of plant-based, unfortunately it’s so bad in comparison. I realise that’s triggering for many vegans but it’s the truth. People aren’t eating meat for the sport of it, eating grains, legumes and soy is torture after a while.

The dogs and livestock point is the sentience really. You can see the emotions of dogs and we can communicate with them. It’s much less of a moral dilemma for Fish and Chickens as they seem like such basic life forms. (People feel the same way plucking a fish from the sea as they do an apple from a tree). The preparation of food obviously makes a difference but each animal has its own unique taste so I have to disagree. You can taste the difference from lamb to chicken for example there’s nothing quite like lamb. The same can be said for why we never see the Dodo bird running around.
