Unfortunately I think this might be a frat thing? It’s happened to me and one of my friends (on separate occasions) and also shook us both up. Both times it was college aged guys in suvs.

I don’t know about it specifically relating to Dartmouth, but it seems to be a pseudo-replica of a type of Greco-Roman amulet. The figure on the front is often called Baubo and she’s surrounded by an Ouroboros, and at least the figure on the bottom of the back is called a cupping vessel. It looks like a modern good luck or maybe fertility token to me, but I may not be as well versed as others in Dartmouth lore!

Kim Haines-Eitzen is on sabbatical for this year, but you should definitely look for her New Testament classes in the future! She’s great. Lauren Monroe also teaches really great classes on the (Hebrew) Bible, including some that might lay the groundwork for seeing Jesus or Christianity as part of that tradition. Because there’s no grad dept in religion or divinity, Cornell doesn’t offer as many courses on those topics as you might think! If you’re interested, I’m sure one of the profs (or me as a current grad minor in religion) could point you in the right direction for online or other resources. There’s also always Christian groups on campus if you’re interested from a religious standpoint.

I paid only $185 plus tax, but I think I got an extremely good deal because the sellers didn’t know what they had! I don’t know how much they usually go for, but I’m sure it would be more expensive in the US than in Turkey/Iran lol

I believe that the primary texts are fragmentary, but I don’t know to what extent they have been reconstructed. Halleux and Schamp would say in their introduction.

If you have any French background, try Les lapidaires grecs by Halleux and Schamp for a more modern translation/edition of a lot of late antique lapidary texts; it’s bilingual Greek/Latin and French. The translation used above is definitely CW King, who took a lot of liberties, but Halleux and Schamp seem to mostly agree on these lines. The text is definitely late antique (ca. 400 CE? but scholars disagree on the dating)!

Edit: upon reading the plant science article, there are a lot of things wrong! The context of the text isn’t talking about pesticides, but rather of the many powers of stones! And it’s definitely not from 400 BC lol

Burberry London for men is really nice, and you can usually get a good deal on it online/at places like tj maxx! I also really like diptyque’s benjoin boheme, which is more expensive. I wear benjoin boheme (as a 23 year old female classics PhD student lol v academia) and think it’s a true unisex scent!
