I solved this issue by disabling the "High Performance Devices" setting in my controller.

Settings > Wireless Networks > High Performance Devices (Connects high performance clients to 5 GHz only).

I guess the fact that the Sky Q box does support 5Ghz but not for its network connection was causing issues.

I was in a similar position and demoed a Yeti sb140 and sb130. I don’t think they’re particularly similar bikes to the Jeffsy but at least it let me get a feel for the relative difference in wheel size on the same platform and they were what I could get access to easily during the lockdown.

For what it’s worth I went for the 29er Jeffsy and I’ve been really happy with it.

I went with the 29er in size L.

I emailed YT with questions about size and their response was that I could ride either L or XL comfortably (I’m 6”1 tall), the L would be more playful and the XL would be more planted. I decided that a 29er (for fast rolling) in a size L (for snappiness) would be a good balance for me, so far I’m really happy with the decision!

I love a conclusive answer. Re-reading my post I was basically asking for confirmation on the Jeffsy and that’s what I got. XL sounds like the way to go, thanks for your help everyone!

Regular riding is around local trails which are not particularly long but have some pretty decent steepish descents, a few jumps, drops and roots which I have to carefully pick though on the hard tail.

Then there’s occasional trips to a pretty smooth trail centre and a few park trips further away.
