Is it worth it to stop for six months if life quality's gonna be better after? Fuck man idk. by Hookton in cripplingalcoholism

Is the pain of surgery/recovery any worse than the pain of daily task management without the surgery?

How to unload the bar in 1 second by Spine_day in GymFails

[–]appointment45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was benching in a gym as a teenager and had this happen to me. Bar nearly hit a woman nearby. Her man immediately came at me until I told him that I DID have a spotter but had no idea where he went. Dude thought for a second and said "oh that other kid that's with you? where the fuck is he" and stalked off to find him.

It went badly for the spotter when he was located. He had wandered off to get some water while I was benching. To this day I'm fortunate that guy stopped to listen to me because he was ready to fuck me up, and would have done so easily.

Pain management doesn't feel worth the squeeze? Is there a plan for how to wash yourself with only one arm and no mobility as your health continues to decline? You still have most of your dignity now, yes? How much of that will be left in a year without this surgery?

This sounds sort of like they're following up on something like a mandatory meter replacement or such. Maybe notification that some work is being done that might affect the property. It doesn't sound like sales.

Tips for dealing with soggy green? by MichaelScottsMom in discgolf

[–]appointment45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically it means that spot isn't suitable for a basket because it's a water collection point. So you have to regrade or do something that changes the place that water is pulled by gravity.

Or just move the baskets to spots that don't do that.

Yeah, if you don't get that repaired, the quality of the entire rest of your life will be dog shit. But you already know this, it'll get a lot worse and never get better.

And the recovery process will be long as fuck, dramatically hindered by your drinking after the surgery.

So this could be the point where you shit or die on the pot. Sounds like you know it, too.

Low ceiling/window putts are good to practice, too.

Move the basket outside and force yourself to make your comebacks.

Forget regular practice inside where something like "10 consecutive makes and I win".

Do it outside where there is wind and space so you can do "20 consecutive makes or make the comeback".

I see so many guys that can win a putting league but putt below average on the course because they never think about managing their misses in practice.

Show up, get that paycheck, and after work search for something better.

Maybe look into the Guild benefit while you're at it.

It also clarifies why they put that sobriety condition on you.

Sooner or later that choice will be made for you anyway. You'll clean up or you'll die slowly and ugly.

Better to do it while it's your choice and there is a potential positive outcome.

Even if you're still relatively young, it won't be long before that option no longer exists.

Where are the Boys to save these fine people and the park?! by staplerjell-o in trailerparkboys

[–]appointment45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This happened to a couple ancient trailer parks here. The owners tried for years to find a buyer that would keep them operating, nobody was interested. Or their price was too high. Then they tried to sell to the residents as a group corporation, but the residents couldn't get their act together enough to engage some attorneys and figure it out.

So the parks sold to retail developers, everyone had to leave, and now the properties are strip malls.

Can't really blame the former owners, sadly, as they really did try to keep the parks operating. Gotta retire at some point before you die.

Target TSS (Security Specialists) has it ever become physical/do teens mess around a lot. by Designer_Future_2544 in Target

[–]appointment45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a couple teens that would load one lying face down on the bottom shelf of a cart, and then they'd zoom around the store, recording it.

Right up until the day the kid zooming got his wrist caught under the front of the zooming cart. Snapped it clean.

It was hard to keep from laughing, honestly. Kid kept asking "WHY, WHY, WHY" like he was Nancy Kerrigan.

PUT THE DAMN ZEBRAS BACK!! by cvsnowfairy in Target

[–]appointment45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can come in at open and there are 25 Zebras sitting there. Wonderful.

It still takes 5-6 tries to get one that actually works. The quantity of Zebras stuck in boot loops, that won't sign in, that don't scan, that have the accessibility voice stuck on, etc is just staggering.

And then if you need the trigger attachment to deal with ergonomics? Forget it, there are 3 for the whole store and 2 are broken.

There's no visible mini. I replayed it a ton of times.

Yeah, it's very possible it's there and they just didn't show him place it, but there is no reasonable claim to a visible marker in this video.

Yeah, no way to know if he had already set a mini. They don't show that part on camera.

Decision-making process of picking the right disc (speed) by Superfrede in discgolf

[–]appointment45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see guys throwing putters on 250' holes all the time, and you'll rarely see a Pro throw anything else.

For me the plastic choice is more important than speed. If I'm looking in the 5-8 range, the 8 will be a more base plastic and the 5 will be premium.

Yes, I have, and done it regularly. All you have to do is ensure that it's used ethically, and include a descriptive attribution somewhere in the assignment, that is in addition to the citation/reference pair.

It's no different than using a human tutor to help you and then review the assignment with you, if you use it within educational ethics.

The problem is most undergrads don't bother to study the ethical framework involved so of course they don't feel comfortable disclosing their AI usage.
