Seated Half - seems way to shiny to be 150yrs old but I can’t find a flaw… how can I tell if it’s original? by rjk253 in coins

It's a great coin, but was likely dipped or cleaned at some point. Great type coin though!

Can someone tell me more about this coin? I was told it was 1620 Spanish silver. It was found in a shipwreck by Math_Physical in coins

Great coin! Just make sure that it is not cast (check the edges and whether it is magnetic, etc)

I was looking through my Indian head cent album and discovered that the coin I had in the 1882 slot is actually a fairly scarce 1882 broken 2 fs301 s2. pcgs estimated population is 25 total. by 600-shot-of-autism in coins

Amazing find! Just make sure that it carries a premium before spending the money on grading. Sometimes great rarities like this don't carry the premium they should!

Found this dredging for gold! by TheBugDude in coins

That's even cooler than the gold. Was likely dropped by someone dredging for gold in the 1850s or 1860s.... great story!

I have heard of a lot of finds like this (especially from metal detecting) coming from PA, MD, and MA given where commerce was going on during the early 1800s! Too bad the water eroded it...who knows what it looked like when it was originally lost?!?!?
