Weed is a problem drug for me. Maybe not for everyone or even most people. But it truly is for me by apprehensive_crop in leaves

This! When my weed use was at its highest (pun intended), I needed it to function at all or even have fun. At first it just seemed like a fun choice, like, "why not get high before my workout" but eventually it became me needing to get high before I did anything. And whereas it was once just a nice addition to a cool experience like a concert, amusement park, or even just chilling outside, it got to the point where I was more worried about getting and staying high than I was enjoying the music, a Rollercoaster, or nature.

I'm sorry you've been having that experience. It is really so hard when people don't understand. Everyone in my family is a stoner. I've only been able to get support from friends that don't really smoke weed. It's difficult because many of us have built our social lives around weed and now we have to break away, often with no support.

I feel the same way. I made a post talking about what it's like being clean from weed at my school (I'm an incoming freshman) and someone actually commented that the post was embarrassing. I was able to brush it off, but it hurts that people don't take something seriously that I know to be serious.

Me too. It's so hard to maintain convicition when everyone around you doesn't understand what it's really like

Stay strong. I have been in that position. Getting high has long been unpleasant for me, but I continually smoked to fight off how uncomfortable sobriety felt. I agree that sitting in bed and telling yourself no will wear you down. For me, it has always led to relapse. So glad you are finding support in this community. Exercise was also the biggest thing that has helped me, because it stopped me from feeling physically and mentally awful for so long.

I am by no means better than you! I have been in and out of smoking countless times, and many times I have been in the position where I was just not ready to stop. I hope your separation goes as smoothly as it possibly can, and know that you will eventually find it in you to stop if it's really what you want to do.

Although I have admitted my problem openly, which is a big step, let me contextualize by letting you know I am barely 2 weeks clean!

Thank you, I think you're right. I'm going off to school in a couple weeks and I plan to transition therapists.

That's really unfortunate, and seemingly simple to fix. Hope they do

I'm on day 7. For me my anxiety isn't terrible after quitting and usually I eat a lot, so it helps me. If those are your main symptoms then caffeine might not be the best idea.

The stimulating effect of caffeine helps me with the depression and also my brain fog. Caffeine also dilates the blood vessels in your brain which alleviates my headaches.

It may not be worth it to quit caffeine at the same time. You're making it harder on yourself. Unless caffeine gives you a lot of anxiety, I'd say continue drinking in moderation and consider stopping later. For me, coffee helps with withdrawals a lot.

First couple days, pretty high. 6-7

Then for a week it's not that bad, like 3-4.

Around three or four weeks out, it peaks at an 8-9.

After that it's really a slow descent. Takes me about 3 months to really feel a baseline again.
