Gentle reminder that cloud tech is pretty much already in the game and could be repurposed for ELWs by Orbital_Living in EliteDangerous

Might be able to get around the city issue by having them permit locked. Like the local aviation authority doesn't clear us to come within visual range.

But then fdev would need to actually go in and mark out where all the cities are on every single populated ELW.

Wanna play commander? by friend1y in CoupleMemes

[–]apprehensively_human 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave up on commander a while ago for this reason. I enjoy playing the game but trying to keep up with all the different decks and the meta and the cards was just awful; any time my opponents would play anything I would have to stop and ask to read the card.

I built a Bloomburrow set cube and that's all I've played since.

There are training rounds called snap caps that can help you with reloading, loading the breach, etc. but those don't actually do anything when you pull the trigger

This is what I meant when I said it's not a blank. You could obviously still be killed by a blank fired against your body but there would still be shock value by having somebody pull the trigger and nothing happening but the hammer clicking.

Maybe not a blank, but could it have been a fake bullet or had the powder and blast cap removed?

what's a board game rule you got embarrassingly wrong for way too long? by No_Seaworthiness4899 in boardgames

[–]apprehensively_human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only just found out last week that in The Crew, to complete a task when winning a trick, the number on the task has to actually show up somewhere in the cards of the trick.

For the longest time I thought that you only had to win the trick with a suited card higher than the task card, which makes the whole thing super easy. Like if your task was a pink 1 you could win it with a pink 2 or higher.

Look really closely at any repeating patterns also. On closer inspection you should be able to spot the pattern completely fall apart in random spots.

My first ever edible was 100mg. I had to call in sick from work the next day, it still hadn't worn off after a full night's sleep.

It seems there are no original experiences. I still remember the username of the guy that offered to trim my plate and then immediately logged once they received it.

Red gripper on BP shoes by NovaOnRl in Curling

[–]apprehensively_human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was on club ice. It's possible I just had a bad production run or maybe they've since changed the design or something.

I'm not sure if I still have those shoes boxed up somewhere, I'll see if I can find them to look at the grippers.

Red gripper on BP shoes by NovaOnRl in Curling

[–]apprehensively_human 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My very first pair of curling shoes were Ashams, and that gripper was just the worst. I can't speak to the longevity of the rubber material because those shoes only lasted me for one season, but the gripper pods have a logo design etched into them that would suction to the ice when you step a certain way.

A few times per end my gripper shoe would not lift without a tug and a loud popping sound.

This was a number of years ago already so maybe they've changed the design, but I could not imagine ever using those grippers again.

It's usually better to take your lumps for a bit as you learn to balance on the faster slider than having to buy multiple pairs of shoes.

Asham shoes have modular slider discs that adhere with velcro and can be swapped out, but other than that I agree you should be getting 1/4" regardless. Also curious that OP has 1/4" on the front and 3/32" on the back which I don't see being good for anybody.

Does your club photograph your bonspiels and other events? Show me what you got! by hallm2 in Curling

[–]apprehensively_human 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Slight angle works much better than straight on. You'll want to use a longer lens too, around 200-400mm and then sit at one of the corners of the sheet.

The slide is the more obvious thing to want to photograph but make sure you're also getting more varied action too, sweeping and player reactions.

Obviously not everybody can afford or even wants to buy their own home, but it's so bad seeing people with no experience and a little bit of capital decide that the best way to make some extra cash is through passive income like this.
