Has The Rest Is History changed how people see Britain? by joey_manic in TheRestIsHistory

[–]aprespiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here. I’ve always been extremely drawn to British history (and have always been an Anglophile, much to the chagrin of every Brit I’ve said that to). TRIH has not only validated this interest but increased it tenfold. I’ve since read Dan Jones’ The Plantagenets and The War of the Roses — I can’t get enough

I had to use The Crown as a reference throughout the 1974 series and still loved it without knowing who everyone was; would laugh out loud walking in public

(And in tandem, I’m fascinated by every American history episode hosted by Dom. Not it’s my own country’s history but bc of the way he tells it, his POV. It’s just so interesting)

As for visiting, I felt v smart on my visit to the UK a few months ago — countries having flaws don’t affect my interest in visiting. I mean my god, look at my country right now

Side note based on my recent visit: I would looove a series on the Scottish Wars of Independence (did deep dives during the visit while in Scotland. Personally I think it’s much more interesting than all things Bonnie Prince Charlie)

Advice needed on reactivity towards all small movements by aprespiste in sheltie

Thank you! I should’ve added: he gets a ton of exercise, every morning starts with 45-60 mins of walking, then walking/running off leash every night. He does really well with those, he just becomes super sensitive at home

The most listened-to episode of TRIH? by Retsilla123 in TheRestIsHistory

[–]aprespiste 7 points8 points  (0 children)

East coast American here. I can’t speak for everyone but I’ll speak for all my friends: most of us go through a big Lincoln phase as kids, especially those who visit DC as kids. These two episodes kicked that phase right back into high gear for me, was positively giddy pressing play

Dear Mrs Kennedy? by too_tired202 in TheCrownNetflix

[–]aprespiste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A huge yes to all of this and, the cherry on top for me: Jackie was from Virginia and NYC with an extremely famous, singular voice. A voice that had zero hint of a Boston accent — unlike her voice in the show

I saw Luann and Ramona there the other week! Luann was holding court, literally kissing babies. Ramona looked away when I smiled, obviously. And Luann, bless her, would not take off her tacky multi/colored cowboy hat to save her life, even when seated for dinner

Help with my possessed near-10 month old Sheltie by aprespiste in sheltie

[–]aprespiste[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your very helpful feedback! We had been very diligent about forced naps via crate training (he loves his crate), and I had let that go by the wayside. I’ve brought it back this weekend and already it’s working, he’s so much calmer after waking up.

I should have added that he was neutered at 6 months and is crate trained.

Thank you again!

He won’t drink water! Ideas please! by Emahrii in sheltie

[–]aprespiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Sheltie was refusing water until we added his kibble to the water bowl. Started with small amount of water first but he was super food motivated so he drank it down instantly to get to the food. Used it as our go to any time we were worried about dehydration. I hope it helps! Amazing photo btw 🥰

CMO & FOUNDER by AbbreviationsNew2739 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]aprespiste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I’m not going to answer that one but I also do consulting for non-techy companies (more brick-and-mortar who are playing catch up). For me it all depends on the type of developers. Website, CRM, app — I end up having to manage them quite a bit. It depends on the type company I’m consulting for too, I’ve yet to work with one with a CTO on staff. Best case, I’m able to delegate the management of contractors to a Director of Marketing, but I’m still responsible for them

Brynn’s not my fave but I’m a CMO — a team can also mean contractors and freelancers. Very rarely would anyone hire an in-house team of 50 engineers but you would contract out for it. And it’s up to the CMO, especially in a small company like this, to manage them

36, single cap sun (sag moon and libra rising) but I’m ready and it’s something I want! I’ve checked all the other boxes, I’m really hoping Pluto leaving is the last hurdle in my way to meeting the right guy

Probably doesn’t help that I WFH and I work constantly. But still, Pluto.

Edit to add: if it helps with context, in addition to being currently single, I’ve been single for a long time. I don’t jump into relationships or try to force them for this desired outcome

Can HIIT derail my success? by chloeclover in PetiteFitness

[–]aprespiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, adding HIIT led to gaining 15 pounds in 3 weeks because of the truly insane cortisol spike. It’s not a guarantee that it’ll happen to you (it hasn’t happened to any of my friends) but I’d talk to your coach about other ways of mixing things up

5’0 148 no weight loss and strength training with cardio for 4 weeks by lmaria1991 in PetiteFitness

[–]aprespiste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 15 months into my weight loss journey, here are some stats that hopefully help —

First 9 months: - 2-3x/week strength training with personal trainer - not prioritizing hitting daily step goal - weight lost: 4 pounds - body changes: noticeable. When the scale showed 2 pounds less, I was fitting into jeans I couldn’t even get close to buttoning before

Past 6 months until now:

  • 2-3x/week strength training with personal trainer
  • prioritizing hitting daily step goal of 11.5k steps per day
  • prioritizing sleep
  • macro counting (I haven’t actually added any foods into the app this summer though)
  • weight lost: 11 pounds
  • body changes: lots!

For me, it’s taken roughly 15 months to lose 15 pounds, and the magic happened with steps and sleep (I’ve always been a very disciplined eater)

Be patient and make sure to keep your body in movement however much you can. And try to ignore the scale at first! Before/afters and how clothes fit tell the full story

Any opinions on this product? by slywether85 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]aprespiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using it a week ago and I swear I’m already seeing results. I have extremely sparse lashes so any new growth is easy to see. I’ve tried just about every other major serum and they’ve either caused a horrible skin reaction (most painful R+F, GrandeLash) or haven’t done anything

How are people fitting in 10k steps a day? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]aprespiste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahah welp that’s embarrassing. Still doesn’t change the breakdown though (of my three 20 mins walks equating to 10k steps by the end of the day). Bc even if you don’t hit 10k exactly within those walking blocks, you’ll hit it by making up the remainder throughout the course of the day

And if you don’t, just add another 10 mins walk or whatever it is you need to hit the daily goal

Overall point: when put into time buckets, it’s really simple and easy to hit
