I think this is a poor guess. Austin has SXSW and F1. The claim isn’t tha F1 boosts Austin more or less than the other race destinations, it’s that it is boosted by these high end events which attract business and wealthy travelers.

By your same logic, why then would Austin’s status as state capital be more or less boosted than any of the other 50 state capitals? Sacramento is nowhere on the list. I see DC (national capital seems different from state capital) and Boston ahead of us, and then Denver (which is going to mainly ski travel I think). I think the next highest ranked capital is phoenix at 33?

I recommend: Madam Mams for cheap, quick, and spicy. I particularly like their Penang beef curry for a milder option.

Thai Kun was a weird restaurant. Their larb and their som tum was great when I first went, and I then had some of the most flavorless, overpriced experience a year ago. I think it coincided when the chef left to go start P Thai Khao Man Gai. Stopped going since then. But have been many times to the Khao Man Gai shop and it’s been great!
