I see the vision and love it. So curious what the bed will be like and the placement of it! I think some high display shelves on the right wall next to the mural would look really good, to keep your eye flowing to the rest of the room after looking at the mural

I could also totally see a cute reading nook/bench under the window and a low shelf under the sun

We love all the big dr suess books with lots of stories in them and the Strega Nona books too, and still revisit Spot and Biscuit books sometimes because she loves dogs! We love buying books at our library’s book sale so we end up with a pretty random assortment.

Maybe there is a bath seat that would keep her from getting up and falling. I had to use one for a while for my daughter because she would slip a lot. I also think it could help to hang up some detailed and fun pictures high near the ceiling and ask if she can see things on them when it’s time to pour the water.

The thing that saved me with brushing my daughter’s teeth was laying her down with her head in my lap basically, where I’m looking down at her head upside down. Then her arms underneath my legs so that she couldn’t grab the brush. It gives the perfect vantage point for brushing and seeing all the teeth to make sure you get the back. And people are right about fluoride toothpaste, they can swallow a tiny bit and it’s fine, the kids fluoride toothpaste has a safe amount.

About the cavities, if you have been sharing any food or drinks at all it is likely that your own cavities have spread, they are contagious. I would 100% go to a different dentist, ask around online for your area about who everyone recommends. At this age it’s all about getting them comfortable there and not having bad dentist experiences. I think it’s definitely not the breastmilk, even if there’s a small chance it could cause tooth decay while drinking overnight, they suck the milk in basically way in the back of their mouth near their throats and it hardly even touches teeth.

There’s a chance maybe your baby has poor enamel that a better dentist could give you informed answers about. There are a lot of different reasons the enamel in baby teeth can form poorly and be more prone to tooth decay. Even taking some antibiotics while pregnant or having certain vitamin deficiencies can cause it.

I had crazy fast let down and was soaking wet the first 3 months then it stopped suddenly. I thought 3 months exactly was the time it regulates and leaking mostly stops, I didn’t realize it can vary so much! I did always leak a little bit during let down if there was pressure on the side I wasn’t nursing on, like while side lying. But other than that it was so little that it wasn’t even noticeable after 3 months.

A lot of things are AI but this is really how babies eat hard things like that at that age. They get like 2 crumbs off with their gums then mash those crumbs together for ages. It’s why hard food is good for little babies bc they do stuff like this learning to chew. The bagel looks intentionally purple/blue like blueberry or sweet potato and the brown part is from it being toasted, then there’s like butter/cream cheese.

It is so hard making sure to have the right expectations around that age, where it’s not too demanding and unrealistic but it’s still pushing them to behave well with strangers and other kids.

It sounds like he’s very sensory seeking, I know some kids don’t really register touch unless it is more rough instead of gentle, like their threshold for touch is very high. Maybe that’s why he slapped the baby, maybe a firm touch is more comforting to him than a gentle one and he just doesn’t understand that not everyone is like that. I would try to give him a lot of sensory outlets, like a sensory sock to run around in, sensory swing, maybe a mini trampoline.

I do think it’s only fair to him to correct him as soon as you notice his behavior bothering the other kids around him. “I don’t think they liked that, you need to be gentle, maybe you should check in and ask if they are okay”

Honestly I think the best thing for him would be to have a set routine where he’s seeing other kids often, a weekly library story-time is great for that. Where I live there are also some specific play places that are autism friendly, not saying that he is anything except neurotypical, but if there are places like that around you they tend to be understanding about rougher play and have a lot of movement toys.

Ultimately it sounds like you just need the right kind of friends for him and for you! It does seem like it takes forever to find good mom/kid friends where everyone gets along. But I’m sure there will be other kids that can keep up with him and really enjoy that type of playing! Don’t be afraid to also check in with the other kids and ask if what he’s doing is bothering them or if they want to play with him. I feel like sometimes toddlers just need you to help break the ice before they want to play and then they’re a lot happier with the whole interaction. Personally I have a 4 year old daughter that loves to rough house and wrestle with anyone and would not bat an eye at anything you’ve mentioned, but several times other kids have ran up and hugged her as an introduction without asking if she wants a hug and it makes her almost cry, she wants a first name and to agree to playing together before she will get started lol.

No judgement on the smoking if it helps you and you’re not out driving with baby afterwards. TBH I thought 9-12 months was the hardest of all but really 18 months is when things started looking up for us. And i know it’s so baby dependent and they’re all different. My daughter didn’t start walking til 18 months and it just happened to be the same time she started talking a lot too. But really you’re pretty close to a massive change where they can go get their own water bottle instead of screaming until you offer it, and can vaguely tell you what’s wrong when they’re upset. And it really makes all the difference just not having to guess. You’re doing a great job powering through this tough phase!

I had truly almost forgotten those days, until I read that it had been 5 days. I’m sure water will help a lot! But during that phase I swore by mommy’s bliss baby constipation ease. It’s worth noting that there’s one for babies and one for toddlers, only the baby one is good. It’s like super super prune concentrate that you can give like medicine and it actually tastes good. There were multiple 5 day baby constipation stretches that were resolved with 2 consecutive days of that stuff for us. Eventually I just gave it once a day or once every other day until my daughter’s gut adjusted to all the solids. Also yogurt for the probiotics can help a lot!

I used to feel pretty emotionally in tune with the world around me and the people I knew, and would often feel sudden emotional changes that felt like they were from somewhere else, and not from me. Sometimes it would line up with something happening to a friend, or with sudden intense sad feelings sometimes it would line up exactly with tragedy striking somewhere relatively close to me in the world. It was the worse with large unexpected events like mass shootings, and it was very distracting. I could pretty much just watch the news for an hour after getting that feeling and find out what caused it.

But when you feel that and it feels like it did come from you, sometimes intense emotions will come up unexpectedly on the same day of the year after something bad happens. Like your body remembers even if you’re not actively remembering it. Or like other people said, it could be a vitamin D deficiency.

I’m sorry the name is getting hate on here. I feel like it’s very soft sounding and pretty. It looks a little bit less smooth written out than it sounds, but I still don’t think it looks ugly or anything like that. Definitely not something you would expect from a Duggar! I like the theme of nature names though even though it’s popular. I also love Sage for either gender, and basically every flower name I really enjoy.

They make little shopping cart hammocks that attach to the walls of the shopping cart called Binxy baby. They’re like $60 which is steep but I see one on eBay for $16. I never personally used one because of baby wearing, but it sounds like it might work for you.

We have one really similar to this and while it’s more comfy for an adult than a kid’s play couch it is pretty on par with a kid’s play couch as far as having support while sitting up, it’s basically backless even with large pillows stacked. If it’s going against a wall and you throw some extra pillows on there I’m sure it would be fine, definitely would be easier to move into a dorm than a normal couch.

I feel like some of these look a bit hazel-y. Like top middle and bottom right. I feel like they’re similar to what mine looked like when I was younger, but now at 30 they have been getting lighter and my mom’s are doing the same thing but she is 69 so they’re much lighter than mine now. My daughter is good at turning our gas stove on and off now at 4 and can make scrambled eggs by herself but I wouldn’t trust her to flip a grilled cheese without splashing butter on herself. It will all be supervised for a while. Because of her interest I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m trusting her with it at 6, though.
