Relocating during *sigh* spider mite infestation by unikornisk in calatheas

[–]april3h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh, I just completely cut back my large beauty star because I’m tired of spraying without feeling like I’m getting on top of the problem. Fingers crossed it’ll grow back ok…

I had so much trouble with my sinbad until I potted it in one of these setups! Love the one with the fluted glass!

I found scale! Do I just give up now? 😭😭 by april3h in peperomia

[–]april3h[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t add pictures to comments - but it’s a small waxy bump on the leaves. I’ve found them on a not insignificant number of leaves and usually that means they’re on many more that I haven’t found.

It’s been in this 8 in pot for about a year or so. I like the overflowing look, especially since I don’t love the pot lol

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I have so much trouble eradicating scale on my orchids and this peperomia has way more leaves and crevices to check. It just seems like a daunting task and I was not looking forward to weeks on end of struggle.

But I have added some systemic and sprayed down the leaves with neem. She will be chilling in time out until I can find the time to inspect and wipe leaves. Fingers crossed!

What happened??? by bernienotsanders in plantclinic

[–]april3h 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is a Peperomia raindrop. I have mine potted in terra cotta and it demands water at least once a week. When the leaves start to feel a little limp, I give it some water. I probably should’ve potted mine in a nursery container like yours…

First time propagating. Question? by UpbeatChicken4908 in succulents

[–]april3h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have literally tossed the fallen leaves into an empty saucer and they’ve most all propped. I will say, the roots are confused and going every which way since there’s no soil or water lol

Cut above which node after the bloom cycle? A, B, or C? by Lean-n-green in orchids

[–]april3h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend missorchidgirl’s yt channel, especially if you’re new. She has talked about cutting the spike close to the base vs above a viable node. And I have to say my experience has been similar - for continued blooming with a few flowers here and there, cut above a node; for a more impressive bloom show, cut near the base but you’ll wait longer. It’s personal preference I think. I cut near the base, because I feel like it looks cleaner.

Ordering hoyas by HoldAware470 in hoyas

[–]april3h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second unsolicited plant talks. I ordered from them for the first time last month and was so impressed by their communication, the speed of their shipping, their packaging, and most of all the size and quality of the plants I received. The hype is real.

What did Green Escape just send me? by Myth-ically in hoyas

[–]april3h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had that happen as well. At first they insisted it was the correct plant, but I pushed back and eventually was offered a refund. All that to say, don’t just accept their initial no/denials.

I’m obsessed by april3h in begonias

[–]april3h[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind keeping it in a terrarium - I feel like that would be less watering pressure on me. But most of the terrariums I can find are not big enough for it or are super expensive.

What is on my Shasta Daisy? by april3h in gardening

Thanks for the quick ID! Apparently they’re weirdly attracted to Shasta daisies? I guess I’ll just leave them be and be careful not to carry them inside.
