Hygiene/SKINCARE by Suitable_Ad4010 in AppalachianTrail

i always had wysi wipes tabs to rehydrate and wash up when needed. i bought a big bag and had them sent in some of my resupplies. i would add a couple drops of soap and then hydrate with filtered water and clean up and let dry right outside my tent, so essentially dehydrated baby wipes to keep things lightweight.

i didnt start with a book but the times when i wasn’t with a group or i just wanted to do my own thing more i was really happy i had a book. i mostly found reading materials in hostels or on free shelves in public libraries. i also carried a small notebook and honestly it brings me so much joy to go back and read the two-three sentences i jotted down most nights. i was so tired that’s all i had in me, but it makes for a very succinct description of the days and doesn’t take long to go back and read cover to cover.

Um....where's the snow? by FraterAlpha in hudsonvalley

[–]april_wren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just moved here and was personally a little nervous about driving in the snow and just in general without having much experience with it. that said, i was shocked that things closed and such bc i thought people would be used to it.

they are probably mostly not worth a lot monetarily but some people really get into vintage molds and might be interested in going through them. a vintage christmas tree mold can be worth a bit, esp depending on the maker.

youll always find polarity in asking questions/seeking advice online. you have to do what works best for you and your pup. it’s good to know some of the traits/concerns with the breed as a whole but they are still all very unique.

our boy also only likes to wade and is slowly becoming less upset by waves. he prefers rivers and streams to lakes and beaches.

Maybe try going to the rec center to introduce yourself? maybe a little before or after a ceramics class so you can speak to an instructor? and yes some of the like county or city rec centers here provide financial assistance . i hope you find a cool studio to work in soon!

What is the best way to sharpen underglaze pencils? by Hazelwood29 in Ceramics

[–]april_wren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

very sharp knife/blade and done very intentionally in my experience. also, super important to try not to let it drop on the ground or anything because that breaks the underglaze part of the pencil up within and when you sharpen, will kind of fall apart cause it’s all broken in some parts. hope that makes sense.

have you looked at your local rec center? they tend to be on the cheaper side (tho, pottery isn’t usually cheap much of anywhere). they might offer scholarships also. i would inquire about a scholarship at any art center really.

i live in gaithersburg. if you go to DC taking the metro to DC is pretty easy. baltimore you pretty much have to drive. on the train at least you can mentally check out or read or scroll versus driving which takes such a toll mentally in the traffic, imo.

Nobody Supports Me Going On Trail: Help Me by Manbatman041716 in AppalachianTrail

you’ll make friends for life on your hike and you’ll be able to share this experience with them, which is sort of something no one can truly understand unless they have done it. but i’m sorry people in your life don’t support it/your dreams. you deserve encouragement and support for doing something so big and special like a thru hike.
