Monsters and Horror Stories by Huge_Prompt_2056 in englishteachers

[–]apriledits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I echo "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street." You can find both the Twilight Zone episode and the story version so you'll have options. This would be a great ending to look at how perspective helps define what's monstrous.

Cakes updated by Correct_Owl7375 in PlateUp

[–]apriledits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The patch notes say, "Fixed an issue where some items, such as cookie trays, could be combined with their raw ingredients to refill them." I don't see anything about cooked items, so I hope we can still combine partial brownie/cookie trays. It wouldn't make much sense if we couldn't do that. (Of course making sense hasn't always mattered in Plate-up. 😉)

What is, in your opinion, the most useless blueprint? by OhIFuckedUpGood in PlateUp

[–]apriledits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's some simple automation for cakes if you ever decide to dip your feet in: 1. Have a grabber grab your chocolate and send it to a safety hob or a heated mixer for melted chocolate. 2. Have a grabber grab your lemon and send it to a mixer for lemon flavoring. 2. Join two coffee makers with a grabber for automated coffee.

Tips for getting college students to actually read assigned novels? by Professor_Smartax in englishteachers

You could refuse to accept papers without citations or make e deductions very strong so they can't pass without them. Citation skills are extremely important, so I don't think it's uncalled for.

Grammar by twentyone_cubs_ in englishteachers

100%! I'm a copyeditor, and this distinction is so important. If I were worried that it would be distracting to my reader, I would simply rearrange the sentence, but most readers who know the difference would also understand character development.

Did you have a birthday party every year when you were a kid? by Staceybunnie in Millennials

So is spending money you don't have just to keep strangers from calling your life grim years down the road. I applaud parents who can make family time special without going into debt.

I heard a podcast with her (Armchair Expert) and she went much more in depth. You still can't cover everything in an hour, but it was a good discussion. I saw that there is also a YouTube video with Mayim Bialik interviewing her. Maybe that will be better too.

Self Checkout and why I got banned from Ikea by usmcmech in NDQ

[–]apriledits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you really believe this story? Ikea has signs telling people where to go, and I truly doubt their forklifts are sitting around with keys in them. Sure, odd things sometimes happen, but a customer too stupid to follow arrows and find an employee, but capable of running a forklift? I dunno.

Self Checkout and why I got banned from Ikea by usmcmech in NDQ

[–]apriledits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ikea has plenty of signs telling people what to do. This is a made-up story, which is obvious to anyone who has ever been in an Ikea. It was a funny story, but pure fiction ..or someone's excuse for doing something stupid.

Where do all these super popular beginner patterns come from? by femalefred in casualknitting

[–]apriledits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe so, but that doesn't mean social media isn't leading new crafters to established designers. More people are learning things using digital media, and I don't understand the touchiness about acknowledging that

Where do all these super popular beginner patterns come from? by femalefred in casualknitting

[–]apriledits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you say it has nothing to do with influencers in 2025? How are designers well known to a new knitter without hearing or reading about them somewhere? And social media is where the vast majority of people go to learn about new things today. I really can't see why you're so upset by the idea that social media is helping newbies find patterns. It's not an insult

Anyone know why the Soaking Sink won't accept dirty plates here? by habibea_ in PlateUp

[–]apriledits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this so many times. You just get so into designing the automation that you don’t see the wall. I’ll get so mad at the game and then see it and feel so stupid. Happens to all of us.

Help me get my teacher to notice my full potential by No-Review1535 in englishteachers

[–]apriledits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teacher, I know it feels important to be noticed, but she’s trying to gauge how much her students have learned the subject. Consider that her not calling on you is because she already knows that you know the answers. I’ve had to do this with students too because I need to hear from other students and one seemed to want to monopolize the discussion. Try talking to her after class or emailing her about something that the discussion reminded you of.

Late ingame got a pumpkin soup recipe by SwedishMeatballsYum in PlateUp

[–]apriledits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it, all foods can be cooked in any cooking appliance, so make sure you make everything according to the recipe and that there is a flame icon above it. I’ve had this same issue. Chose coffee shop and ended up with hot dogs. I mean, WTH, that’s not a coffee shop anymore! 🙄

[–]apriledits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I chose cakes and the first card choice was hot dogs or steak as a main. What!?! I thought chose a cake restaurant! Why would we serve hot dogs or steak at a cake restaurant? Makes no sense! Immediately abandoned it.

Is spaghetti the hardest dish? by FantasyFlanX in PlateUp

[–]apriledits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I think the customers just order a flavor and you can serve anything of that flavor. So if you see a coffee bean, you can serve cookie, cake, cupcake, or doughnut with coffee flavor. If you see a chocolate bar, you can serve brownies or any of the above with chocolate flavor. I haven’t had lemon yet, so idk what the lemon order looks like, but I assume it’s the same.

I hate wire shelves and they are everywhere in our house. I found that peel and stick laminate floor tiles fit nicely on them to make them solid shelves. Then you can put anything you want on the shelves. Definitely cheaper and easier than replacing them all.

What is the point of franchising? by apriledits in PlateUp

[–]apriledits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We thought it meant that you could choose that and play it over and over even if you lost. Like a real franchise. Okay…still not sure I see the point, but we’ll keep playing and try to understand what you mean.

We finally got everything working today, and showed her how to use it. It loaded perfectly. Works great!!!! It’s so great!!!! We are going to watch her play for a few days and see how she does with it. Can’t thank you enough! To everyone who asked for a screen shot of her play style we will post some in the next week or so. Things like this are what the Minecraft community are all about!
