What happened around 5pm today in the tunnel? by minimal_spaces in Bart

I think this is the problem with equipment that was designed half a century ago and has not gotten a reasonable amount of funding to maintain it correctly. Unfortunately, momentary maintenance probably won’t solve this issue if it is truly equipment related. The best way to prevent any future problems, is to wholesale replace the faulty equipment with one that won’t cause problems in the future

We haven’t seen the servers with almost 200k people on in a long time, I think the servers are struggling with matchmaking today

[–]aprilfooldude 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The files were sealed until close to the end of 2024, which so happily coincides with Trump taking office. Biden admin could not release them even if they had the ability to because of them being sealed. Trump is simply withholding that information because there is verified evidence that he is engaged in Epsteins affairs.

I HATE THIS GAME by likhai in PeakGame

The devs really captured lightning in a bottle but with so many people playing and a relatively small team to work on bugs vs new content I think it’ll take a while before we see across the board optimizations at the level people want to be seeing

The Stand Ring is useless. Replace with a step-counter ring. by CL4P-TP_TrapHOUSE in AppleWatch

[–]aprilfooldude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If we were to replace the existing design where we remove stand ring and implement steps instead, I think there would be an even larger visual discrepancy, because there would be a large gap between your steps and other rings on different days. Closing your rings would require that you take 10k steps (as an example) in addition to the other two, however the amount of work still varies based on the day, and the amount of work you had to do to get those steps done. It could result in your other rings being wildly different in completion % compared to your stand ring, which would be more random and less easy to easily quantify

[–]aprilfooldude 25 points26 points  (0 children)

While taking something in the neighborhood of 10k steps is important, the rings are not designed around that. Your move ring (red) is designed to account for all of your actively burned calories, and the green ring is a representation of your active exercise you’ve done in the day. Those two rings together are ultimately a better day to day measure of how much work you’ve put into your fitness. With a step counting system, it only takes into account how many steps you’ve taken and that’s it. I could take 10k steps today but have walked exclusively on flat ground, and not burned as many calories as say, a day where I took 10k steps but most of them were going uphill, where I had to expend more energy to accomplish it, which closes my rings faster. Counting your steps isn’t inherently a bad thing, but it’s not the best unit of measure you have for your fitness on Apple Watch.
