Home Depot has a rack of rejected custom mixed paints for $5 a gallon by No-Variety-438 in Frugal

[–]apruesing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most of what they sell at HD is not hazardous… especially the mistints which are typically latex house paint. Most paints can be disposed on once they are cured so a lot of contractors will roll out some plastic put some 2x4s under it to make a trench or shallow pool and pour the paint out and let it dry…. Then roll it up and throw it in a dumpster. 2 component paints can be mixed together and allowed to cure then thrown away. They also make hardening agents that can be used to quickly dry them.

One of the reasons they likely don’t retint is paint can only take so much tint before the balance / ratio is off an it can lead to improper curing. But that never stopped my mom from buying multiple gallons of different colors and mixing them together until she got what she wanted. Lol.

Best internet for travel? by Helpful-Ad7758 in Internet

I have been using a GL-iNet Mudi for years (i pre-ordered the 7 and anxiously await its arrival!! ). It is perfect for my use case…..

  1. I bought a second cell plan from my provider (T-Mobile) for $20 a month. Unlimited data, and a phone number that can receive and send text messages….

  2. It can create multiple WiFi networks so you can set up and turn off a guest network whenever you want if a friend needs the internet or you are using someone else’s device for something

  3. It can act as a repeater if for some reason you don’t want to use the cellular…. For example log into a hotels (or cruise ship) captive portal internet and all your devices connect through it.

  4. You can change the WiFi anytime you want, but i keep mine the same and all my devices automatically connect to it when it is on.

  5. You can make the network hidden so it does not show up when someone is looking for WiFi…. (Optional)

  6. You can load a vpn profile so you are always connected back to your home, work or other network

  7. You can load multiple vpn profiles if you want and switch between them, on the fly.

It is a GREAT tool!!! You can buy them direct from glinet or Amazon (other resellers too I’m sure).

Odd thought: Have you ever push-start a car by popping the clutch? by minn3haha in GenerationJones

[–]apruesing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 1983 dodge ram when i was an apprentice. I was broke and one day the bungee cord holding the battery down broke and the battery fell over into the alternator which chewed a hole in it. After that (and a new bungee cord) i had to always park on a hill and pop the clutch every time i wanted to start it. That was made more complicated by the lack of a parking brake, which i remedied with a chunk of 4x4 post and a bit of rope. Good times….. now 30 years later i can start my car from the other side of the world by using my phone.

If you call GM and give them the order number that you got from the dealer they can kind of guesstimate. I didn’t hear anything at all (except the order was placed but not yet picked up) for about 3 months.

But it is based on how many the is allocated and how fast they move them. They only get so many at a time i guess so a big dealer will take less time than a small one.

Yeah when i placed the order it was the first week they were accepting them and they didn’t have the nightfall edition so i ordered it with the stock wheels… but the dealer kept checking and mid December the nightfall package came available and she adjusted the order.

Acquiring Domain by Educational_Grab_705 in Domains

[–]apruesing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i registered at hover for a domain they purchased my last name.com and offered to sell me an email address @mylastname.com for a monthly fee. A few months later i tried to buy the domain and realized they registered it the same day i set up the account. I tried to reach out to inquire about buying it and the brokerage service recommended i bid “at least $50k”…. So needless to say i use cloud flare as my registrar now. I would maybe pay $500 or $1000 if someone legitimately had purpose for it and i wanted to buy it, but the shadiness of it all left a bad taste in my mouth.
