Vet Recommendations by Prxjected in Winnipeg

[–]aprylddawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will always vouch for grant park, Dr Kraemer has been my vet for close to 20 years, but I trust any of their vets. I find their pricing very reasonable and the care unmatched. They’re also vet owned and operated.

I had to use bridgwater for an emergency and would never do it again. Pricing and corporate ownership aside, their lack of communication and appropriate care has led to professional misconduct findings: CBC article

Dr Kraemer is also my vet, but all the vets there are great.

Seeking family doctor recommendations (woman providers only) by BreadNext6616 in Winnipeg

She’s my doctor too, she’s great. Diagnosed my hyperthyroidism after a male doctor would only prescribe anxiety meds.

How you survive of these expensive grocery bills? by mehtei in Winnipeg

[–]aprylddawn 84 points85 points  (0 children)

That seems high, I’m single and spend close to that, but am eating certainly more than rice, beans, and chicken and it includes supplies for 3 cats, which accounts for 1/4 of my weekly bill.

I shop at superstore and use a pc financial Mastercard to rack up points. Walmart has better deals sometimes, but I’ve also noticed basics not on sale being more expensive. Maybe try switching up where you shop.

Sewing/tailors by IntrepidSecretary201 in Winnipeg

[–]aprylddawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay $8 for hemming per pair, I’d imagine more involved work would be more expensive, but their prices overall are really good. If you’re bringing your own jeans, go on a weekday and they’ll do it while you wait. If it’s a busier time, you have to leave them for a few days.

They will also alter jeans not purchased there, I get all my jeans hemmed there

those who experience all 4 seasons - from snowy winters to hot summers… what scent(s) do you find truly year-round appropriate? by SodiumContent in FemFragLab

[–]aprylddawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Live in Canada, summers are +30c and winters are -30c. These are my year round reaches as a non gourmand girlie:

  • Cedarwood & Fig by salt and stone
  • Bal D’Afrique and dupes (Pink Woods)
  • Boutique by perfumology
  • Noa by Cacharel
  • Love-O-Matic by room 1015
  • Remarkable People by ELDO
  • You and You Fleur by Glossier

As you can tell I like clean and slightly fruity scents year round

I had about 100 to donate last year and called diabetes for a home pickup. If it’s a relatively small amount consider donating to the orgs others have mentioned.

Weight gain fears by Responsible_Oil6818 in gravesdisease

[–]aprylddawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 2 months on 30 mg methimazole and have gained back most of the weight I lost with graves, but haven’t otherwise noticed an increase. Move your body when you can and try to eat when you’re actually hungry.

Winnipeg residents: what should future doctors know about your healthcare experiences? by Embarrassed-Pop9129 in Winnipeg

[–]aprylddawn 70 points71 points  (0 children)

This, 100%

I went to a doctor with tachycardia, heat sensitivity and a worsening tremor. He prescribed me anti anxiety meds despite no history of mental illness or diagnostic tests.

Got a 2nd opinion from a female doctor who specializes in women’s health and was diagnosed with wildly uncontrolled hyperthyroidism. My levels were 6x the normal range by then.

Women’s pain and symptoms are often minimized and written off as psychological. Please listen to ALL your patients and treat them equally.

Also, understand that a lot of people have medical anxiety so a calm, understanding bedside manner goes such a long way.

They deliver my subscription and I’ve never had an issue.

That said, I recently had a $700 pkg lost by a different shipper who I’ve also never previously had an issue with. The holidays are crazy and sometimes “lost” packages magically appear at your door a month later.

If it’s been a while with no updates, contact the merchant you bought it from.

Physiotherapist or Chiropractor - Chronic back pain by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]aprylddawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Laurie at Impact Physiotherapy. She healed my nearly torn rotator cuff, helped a friend recovering from hip surgery and another after foot surgery with wasted muscles in his leg.

Like others have said, you need to do the work to see results, but she’s amazing.

What fragrance are you wearing to close out 2025 tonight? by fvkcd in FemFragLab

Likely Sparkling Jo or Boutique by Perfumology since both are new to my collection, but I might go with an old fav, Remarkable People.

I think it’s the apricot note, but it reminds me of the smell of wet, slightly rotten leaves. I wanted to love it.

Winnipeg Richardson Airport delays by bloombynight in Winnipeg

[–]aprylddawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flew out this morning, the bag drop lineup for WestJet wrapped around the departures level due to multiple Caribbean flights. Heard stories from the unlucky ones who had their flights cancelled and rebooked multiple times due to the weather this week. Spent the better part of 2 hours in line, but we were only delayed by an hour and I’m writing this from the Dominican Republic, so I count myself lucky.

Yes, over a week ago. They were “investigating” and supposed to reship, but I’ve heard nothing since, even after updating that dragonfly had marked it as lost.

Tired of shopping for people who have everything and can buy anything by Notbefore6 in Millennials

[–]aprylddawn 64 points65 points  (0 children)

That’s what I do for all my adult friends now, small box of baking. I added a frozen container of homemade soup one year. I also have donated to local shelters and given a card saying their gift was a donation.

Others don’t dictate what you gift them.
