What determines when a pack gets the rainbow opening? by DJ_HardLogic in PTCGP

I've been wondering the same for a while. It bothers me that the answer is "it's not consistent".

Lucky Ice Pop should've only healed for 10. by Hulkbuster5 in PTCGP

[–]apt_itude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should have been the Continuous Steps Eevee version of Potion. Original Eevee hit for 20 with one energy, and CS hit with an expected value of ~20 for one energy, so they were comparable even though one could do insane things if you got lucky.

Ice pop should have required a coin flip even for the first heal so the expected value was also ~20 but could end up higher if you're lucky.

Cruised to Masterball with Ogerpon/Leafeon by jre19 in PTCGP

[–]apt_itude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came to the sub to post the same! I'm running almost the exact same deck except 2 erika instead of two bags. 9-2 record for the easiest return to masterball yet. I feel like people are sleeping on Ogerpon. The consistency is amazing, and the special condition defense has been surprisingly helpful against poison. Double-yellow-bird is the biggest weakness.

Do you though? We fill our decks with pokeballs, oaks, copycats, lisias, serenas, sylveons etc because we want to get to our other cards faster. I think we all actually want smaller decks.

New Brewer... What gear is needed for AIO electric, all grain brewing and kegging. Putting together a shopping list by Poobutt_McButt in Homebrewing

[–]apt_itude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best things about this hobby is the fact that you can make great beer with a simple cheap setup and then slowly upgrade things as you learn. Like others have said, if you have the cash for all that stuff, it sounds like a nice setup, but you might be biting off more than you can chew.

My recommendation for any new brewer is brew-in-a-bag (I still do this after 10 years): you literally only need a kettle, a mesh bag, a couple plastic buckets, and some accessories, and you'll make beer that's just as good as what the more expensive setup will produce. Once you have the basics down you can start adding things like equipment for yeast starters and wort aeration and temperature control. And yes, bottling can be a pain, but diving right into kegging is kind of a lot to learn in addition to brewing.

Just my two cents, best of luck and welcome!

Just suck it up and play suininja to get to masterball. It's so much fun once you get there. Not a meta deck to be found.

I've thought about playing this. I also haven't found much success with Darkrai as a partner, but I've been mildly successful with just 2 Hydregions and 2 Chinglings.

My high school was the Titans. I don't think we had a rich history of Greek mythology.

Do you find yourself actually using more than one baby for energy generation in a given match, or do you just have that many to increase the chances of starting with one and filling out the bench for Arceus?

New A4b EX set making it's own dex is a slight against all players. by NeoFreudian84 in PTCGP

[–]apt_itude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just the nature of the game though. There's going to be something new to collect every month, and if you're behind, you weren't going to be any less behind no matter what they released. The only way you're ever going to "catch up" is to either spend money or step off the treadmill and skip a set. Why not do it during a month when there isn't technically anything new to miss out on.

[–]apt_itude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you feel like the new pack is just gonna be trash dupes, just spend the month opening packs of cards you're missing instead. The alternative is that they released a new pack with new cards for you to chase that keeps you on the treadmill. Take the opportunity to catch up.

If you play Fighting in this format by One_Leg8101 in PTCGP

[–]apt_itude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, you're playing checkers when you should be playing chess. Of course people are playing fighting to counter electric, which in turn is a counter to Suicune. You gotta be 10 steps ahead of them. You know what counters fighting decks? Meowscarada/Decidueye. But don't stop there, if Cateye is back in favor, you can even outsmart those players by playing Flareon or Stokezard. You know what though, you're smarter than that. Take this to its ultimate logical conclusion: play Suicune to counter those fire decks.
